I am a Trump supporter, and want him to build the wall.

However, I built a wall of my own to use as a backstop while shooting archery, small rimfires, and tomahawk & knife throwing.

I made it double thick with railroad ties that are huge and very heavy.

Once I had the frame built by myself my wife and a neighbor, we let the QUICKRETE harden, then I did the deed.

I drove to the place everyone goes in town, stopped and held up my FOUR fingers.

FOUR Mexicans hopped in my truck and in a little over 2 hours they had all of the railroad ties in the frame, and the overloads piled next to the garden.

I did not ask their legal status and frankly do not care. They did a very good job for me, and I will do it again if I need them again.

I am 100% disabled and there was no way in hell I could have lifted 24 railroad ties into that frame and put them in place.

so here I am, the original hypocrite in my political beliefs.

It is what it is.

Now, this morning I am going to stencil DAVE"S WALL on the front of it.

gotta keep out them damned illegals...:lamo

yeah, I know I suck. No need to tell me.

What you describe is on a small scale, the problem American businesses
and even the American government face.
People say they do not want the Mexicans here, but they are very useful.
In addition, they have an incredible work ethic, few people work as had as a Mexican.
For the Governments part, they know that someone who is 106 years old, and dead 20 years,
is not working 8 different jobs and paying income and social security taxes on all those jobs,
It is just not convenient to talk about it.

This has been exactly my problem with the Repubs all along. They want the illegals here so they keep downward pressure on wages and thus upward pressure on profits. Then the Repubs have a screaming hissy blaming the Dems for letting them people in the country. I am getting used to the hypocrisy though.
 

I don't think you suck. I think you're a realist. I am pretty sure all the gals are not legal in the house cleaning crew when I hire one on occasion to do a thorough deep clean of the house. But I need the service and they are all delightful people and I am not authorized or expected to do immigration enforcement. Should the immigration laws be enforced I would approve of that. And I would vouch for these gals to be issued green cards to come back legally, and they would almost certainly have a job with that house cleaning service waiting for them. Until then, if it costs a bit more to lure Americans to those jobs, so be it. In the long run that would be better for us all to have all able bodied people of working age working.

I imagine most of us have hired contractors without knowing whether some of the guys or gals who show up are legal.

No, he admits he's a Hypoctire. I don't know what Hypoc is, or how you make tires out of it, but accuracy is important :mrgreen:
 

What you are ascribing to a unified position is actually a party conflict / wedge issue.
 
The very business friendly GOP has never really wanted to stop illegals. Businesses love illegals, and the GOP loves businesses and their business donors. But the Republican politicians have talked a good game, and got much of their base to believe that the GOP really wanted to stop illegal immigration. They've been lying to their base for decades. IMO that's 1 of the big reason for this Trump revolution and the backlash at the GOP by some of it's base.

It's finally hit many of the working class Republican base the GOP has been lying to them about wanting to stop illegals. So they are looking outside the establishment GOP, to Trump.

There was a wise person that once said..." Be true to yourself ". Yup, I have no issue seeing the PURE HYPOCRACY is the whole thing.

but, hey, I have my wall, and now I can do my practice safely without an arrow zipping through the back jungle and hitting someone.

unlike you, I actually sometimes make mistakes when I type, and sometimes those mistakes get past me when I post....unlike you, who is perfect in every way, and enjoy poking and making little of the rest of us mere mortals at obvious typos.

all I did was pay some local Mexicans to fill in a frame with heavy assed railroad ties. They live here in town with me and everyone else.

How did "terrorists" win anything?

I thought this was a tire that hypocrites use to help support the structure of their wall

I like realists, myself. If everyone is honest with themselves they demonstrate contradictory actions and nature on occasion. Nobody is a perfect paradigm of their ideals.
The gray area in each and every person's standing and actions is usually overlooked, especially in debates.

In my view it has nothing to do with party choice or one's view on economic theory - it's always been about walking your talk. Don't believe hosting illegals is a good thing - then don't freakin' hire illegals, even when it might temporarily benefit you to do so.

As to the OP, with just a bit more effort you could have hired some high school students to do the work, after all they're getting out for summer and can probably use the bucks. Might even inspire one or two of them to study harder in school after a little manual labor.
