Donald Trump is a Socialist

The Trump Administration has reached a deal with China, ending the trade standoff.

"The US and China have agreed on a deal to help resolve the trade war raging between the world’s two largest economies, top Trump administration officials announced Sunday.

Details of the deal, struck during negotiations in Switzerland over the weekend, were not revealed, but officials teased that more information will be shared on Monday.

“The U.S. has a massive $1.2 trillion trade deficit, so the President declared a national emergency,” US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said Sunday. “We’re confident that the deal we struck with our Chinese partners will help us work toward resolving that national emergency.”

President Trump has imposed tariffs of up to 145% on goods from China, with China slapping retaliatory tariffs on American exports."

If it's so dang great why do we have to wait until tomorrow for the details?

I'm putting up a news story. The news is that the Administration has reached a deal with China ending the tariff standoff.

The reaction of "nuhn uhn" is fully expected.

Denial is the first stage of greif.

'No'. Again, the bolded is unsupported. Your reporting an Administration "claim".

Declaring a national emergency over a trade deficit is completely absurd. That's gotta be the least emergent out of all emergencies that have ever existed. A freaking trade deficit.

Anyway, what did your average American actually gain out of all of this nonsense? Or was it all just a massive waste of time and money?

The board left will be going through the stages of grief over this, starting with denial.
The news has been hard on them lately and they are scrambling with narratives to play it all down. And I expect there might be more upcoming news and soon. They will need to take their anti-Trump rhetoric to even higher levels. ;)

First, we get the signed mineral deal with Ukraine that several thought unlikely. Then we get a trade deal with the UK and they say it's nothing or even that it hurts us. Then we are about to get the last American hostage released (yet to see how they'll spin that). Then we get a productive start with China negotiations (and boy are they ever busy spinning that even though they don't yet know what happened - they are working on their spin in advance, lol). Soon, the tax bill will pass the House and they'll scream about it being a tax bill for just the rich, just as they did in 2017 (but that simply wasn't true).

Those "stages of grief" will get comical on this forum.

I asked you a very simple direction question. One you avoided answering. It is all good. ;)
Yeah a list of acceptable media outfits is not something I’ve invested time in curating. I suspect most people do not.

I saw coverage that it is a "framework" like the Brit deal but "not as detailed"..Still that's pretty good considering China would not talk until this week

Get real.

Good God

re the Swiss meeting:
Looks like they have a "mechanism" and the principle negotiators are set. along with frank discussions. China is under pressure

Despite authorities’ extensive stabilisation efforts, multiple systemic risks continue to loom over China’s overall banking sector. These include a prolonged real estate slump, local government debt crisis, hidden bad debts and shadow banking, erosion of confidence, as well as economic slowdown and credit demand.
