Trump's approval rating currently sits on middle ground, neither magnificent or suffering. In fact it's close to what both Obama and Biden averaged over their terms (47-48%).
His polls are not 'historically bad.' 9 months into his presidency, Biden fell below 45% approval and never rose above it again. Obama was at 46% in June of his first term. Just like Trump is.

Trump is one of the most unpopular figures in modern American history. His polling at best has always been under water, at worst he’s below Hillary Clinton - who is pretty despised across swaths of the country regardless of political affiliation. Just wait until he’s done taking a sledgehammer to our economy and forcing us into a new war.
