President Donald Trump's approval rating has hit a record low for his second term, according to a polling tracker. The Vote Hub polling tracker showed that on September 30, Trump's net approval rating hit -10 points, with 43 percent approving and 53 percent disapproving. Trump’s slipping approval underscores the political risks he faces as the shutdown unfolds. While his core supporters remain loyal, sustained disapproval among the broader public could weaken his leverage in negotiations with Congress and erode confidence in his leadership. A record-low rating also signals potential vulnerability heading into 2026, raising questions about whether the coalition that powered his 2024 comeback is beginning to fracture. And the most recent Marquette poll put Trump's rating at -14 points, down from -10 points in July.

Polls have also shown that Americans think Republicans would be more to blame than Democrats for the shutdown. A PBS News/NPR/Marist poll showed that a plurality—38 percent—say Republicans would be most to blame for a shutdown, while 27 percent said Democrats would be to blame. Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin said the shutdown amounted to "the clearest sign yet that Republicans are inept, incompetent, and lack any respect for the American people. Republicans are in charge of the White House, the House of Representatives, and the Senate. This is their shutdown."

This last week's polls were particularly bad for him and they didn't include the terrible speech to the military commanders or the vile memes re the shutdown. We know that Independents have figured it out. Maybe some Republicans have come to their senses .

I don’t know. Every week there is a thread claiming a new low, and each time it shows the same mid-30s to low-40s approval rating. Let me know when a major poll shows his support dropping below 30%. Then we can talk.
 
But still far more popular than the alternative.

A competent party of democrats would be using this as an opportunity. These democrats are focused on fascism, epstein, and shutting the government down.
 
Here is the problem. No matter how low his approval rating goes, it will not cajole enough GOP voters to support Democrats in 2026….

This. Independents matter, MAGA do not. Take @Taylor on this thread: Donald could rape a child on camera in the middle of 5th Avenue, then demand a 3rd term, and Taylor would blame the heinous act on Democrats then vocally support a 3rd Trump term. Nothing will ever cause a single one of them to be disloyal to Trump, or unwilling to obey his orders.

So, it’s the other 70-75% of the country that we need to focus on.

If I go mountain climbing and fall to my death, are you going to blame Biden? No one forced those people to try and come to America. It's also a false narrative that Biden 'Opened the Borders'. What's really ridiculous is a MAGA pretending to care about a Mexican (Brownie) losing their life at our border.

Anecdotally, my family members are not defending or praising him as much on Facebook or in person as they did his last term. That being said, I think if they could wave a magic wand and go back and vote for Harris they probably still would not.

It's not a false narrative at all. He removed protections on Day 1 of his presidency. There was a crisis situation there and they did nothing. Couldn't even admit it. Blamed Republicans for not passing legislation, which was a BS excuse. Suddenly, when it came time for reelection, he magically began to clamp down.

I don't know. I'm holding out for a few MAGAs to actually be hurt by Trump policies and admit it. They'll be a few ! The really cruel shit hasn't kicked in yet. You can't tell me of the upcoming 750K federal firings, plus the ones already fired (250K), none of them are MAGA.

I'll tell you why. We don't so much worry about what people say, we watch what people do. The overall stance currently against immigrants, illegal or even legal in many cases, tells us exactly what this administration and the MAGA think.

I’m sure a few of them are MAGA and while we saw some futile “Sir, I voted for you, please save my job” posts from them, I don’t think we’ve seen “you destroyed my career, congrats on creating a lifelong Democrat voter” yet.

Even Nixon during Watergate that I went through and now looks like a fraternity prank was down to 28% approval.

Trump the Traitor who is obsessed to have the armed forces as his personal Army of what the Madman thinks are goons stays 10 to 12 points above Nixon's low. Even the Generalissimo Trump of J6 stays significantly above Nixon's pits. Even the Trump who's hellbent to muck up the '26 voting to stop Democrats winning the House stays considerably above Nixon.

This is due to his MAGA base, the loyalty of Republican voters who would die before voting for a Democrat, and a hard core of Independents who are in fact MAGA embedded with Trump. Third party voters who blare their horns and fart they didn't vote for Trump didn't vote for Harris either which win or lose was the only possible way to stop Trump.

This constant gap Trump maintains above Nixon's low informs us that too many people want Trump's dictatorship which was never an issue with Nixon. The thug Roger Stone who was a Nixon "Dirty Trickster" against the Democrats has graduated to Trump.

- Poll is biased.

Negative polling about Democrats:

- Polls are 100% accurate, no questions asked, a predictor for the future that the party is doomed.

- Any negative polling about democrats proves the electorate has spoken and is no longer buying their lies.

- Any polling about democrats should be held onto and peddled for months and years, no matter how misleading the poll is and how deceptive the propaganda surrounding it is.
….ie 79% of voters would have changed their vote if they had known about the laptop.​

- Polling showing Democrats have the lowest approval in years = proof the party is doomed, pay no attention though to polling that shows republicans also have the lowest approval in years.

Sorry to say the electorate and voting doesn't matter any more.

Trump-MAGAs are putting a lock on it. If Trump-Miller can't use active duty troops and/or federalized National Guard grunts in the '26 voting and, if necessary, in the '28 election, then they will use their civilian Federalstapo of the alphabet soup of goons who have arrest authority.

Trump don't give a rat's ass about the polls and public opinion because he is certain he can control the voting and the counting just as Joe Stalin did. Trump doesn't give a rat's ass what the voters think of him in his 2.0+ time. He's sure he can put a lock on the voting and elections and he's confident the Supreme MAGA Court will pat him on the back about it for a job well done.

These people are fascists don't we know.
