Are any of these available in your area, and have you tried them? (Have you ever eaten a frozen-dinner chicken-fried steak? Has Dolly improved on this?)

In addition to Parton’s Homestyle Macaroni and Cheese, Original Whipped Cheesecake, and Decadent Chocolate Pie, these five new products are designed to be as delicious as a home-cooked meal — a praise that few frozen meals are able to achieve. “I just thought it would be great to have good, hearty foods that are real tasty and that have a lot of flavor in the frozen food aisle,” Parton told Food & Wine.

The new entrees include Louisiana-style Shrimp & Grits with cherry tomatoes and scallions; Beef Pot Roast braised with carrots and red potatoes; Chicken and Dumplings with vegetables in a creamy sauce; and Country-fried Steak served with mashed potatoes, green beans, and bacon — one of Parton’s favorite meals from the road. “I mean, who doesn’t love country-fried steak?” Parton is also introducing a bake-and-serve peach cobbler with a buttery biscuit crust that serves up to eight people. https://www.foodandwine.com/dolly-parton-frozen-meals-11739432

Not a fan of single meal frozen foods of any kind.
Will pass on trying hers.

We tried the country fried steak variety. It was about as good as you could expect frozen and then microwaved country fried steak to be. I'd get it again.

Dolly Parton’s Quick and Easy Get Fat meals.

I didn't know this, but she also has a line of cake mixes and frostings. Bought a strawberry cake mix and tried to bake a cake using new silicone cake pans....it didn't work out very well. Her cake mixes call for 4 large eggs, but while letting it cool, we discovered it was under-cooked and fell in the center like a souffle, so back in the oven it went!

The country fried steak and sides was only 500 cals. That's not much for a dinner.

It's the sodium that's just terrible!
The sodium in TV dinners is usually terrible. Even Lean Cuisines are bad. I count calories, but my sodium intake is high. If my blood pressure ever goes up, I'll have to watch it. That would suck.

With any canned soup or bottled salad dressing, you usually have the choice of low-cal or not-insane sodium (at least the last time I looked years ago). I've watched my sodium since my last pregnancy, when I learned what "pitting edema" was. What ticks me off is that I'm so sensitive to sodium when I'm not a salter. I can't eat chips like Fritos and never could; they're way too salty. I buy unsalted tortilla chips. And still, a Coke has a lot of sodium for a 12-ounce can 40-45 mg). These dinners are 11 ounces +/- and have 800-1000 mgs +/-!

I definitely take in too much salt. However, I just eliminated something big, so that's my health thing this year. Salt will have to wait unless I see some negative health effect because of it.

They sound tasty but yeah, they also sound quite fattening and I bet ole Dolly does not partake of that chicken-fried steak and creamy whipped cheesecake quite as much as she says she does. 😆
It's pretty easy to turn into the "Thousand Pound Sisters" on a steady diet of that stuff.

Yup; that's a no-go for me, I'm only allowed to have about 1500 mg. per day, so I won't be trying her meals... ☹️

I already like salt too much anyhow. I'm on meds for high blood pressure already.

Not as short/tiny as she is. Every ounce shows.

Just so long as you aren't one of those people who salt their food before tasting it!

Not much anymore unless the recipe calls for it. I used to.

In 2010 when I went on High blood pressure I definitely declared "I will die before I give up salt, butter and wine". Here we are in 2025. I now have a defibrillating pacemaker in my chest, salt and butter are no-no's, and I'm a die hard holdout on the wine. Moral of this story? .....Never say never, but don't stop doing what you love either! 🤗

Smart long-term health decision, and you've made a lot of those.

But aha! You used to be one of them.

Sometimes you have to. Waaaaa! But I know what you mean. My grandparents gave me Coke when I was a toddler, and I am a lifelong Cokeaholic.
