Nevada is one of only two states led by Republican governors that got labeled a "sanctuary jurisdiction" by the U.S. Department of Justice on Tuesday.

The announcement came in a press release that lists 12 states — including Republican-led Nevada and Vermont — as sanctuary jurisdictions, as well as four counties and 18 cities.

The designation puts those with the sanctuary label at risk of federal lawsuits and loss of federal funds.

No cities or counties in Nevada were listed as sanctuary jurisdictions.

The bold is a head shaker. A sanctuary state with no sanctuary cities or counties.

Republican Rep Mark Amodei had a similar thought:

"Somebody is dumber than standing water when you list no jurisdictions in the state but you list the state," said Rep. Mark Amodei, the Republican who represents Nevada's top half.

You can read through the article, but the simple fact of the matter is that Nevada is not and never has been a sanctuary state. Every official in the state, Republican and Democrat, confirms this. No answers have been forthcoming from the administration.

What could be Trump's interest in designating Nevada a sanctuary state when it isn't? What does he want?
