Can't believe no one started a thread on this yet. Then again, there's not much to debate unless you really think the suspect stabbed a kid in the heart in self defense. Can't wait to see how this one plays out. That kids poor twin brother will need therapy for the rest of his life. Tragic.

I'm not going to touch the race aspect.... but this is just so damn tragic. And I got to hand it to the father for holding it together. Obviously his faith is what keeps him from going ballistic.

Touch it for what? Someone killed someone and is in custody. This is already a better outcome than lots of inner city weekend shootings that go unsolved.

It seems to be more newsworthy because of where it happened. Upper middle-class suburb. And the suspect apparently from a good family.

This is the kind of thread that scares a lot of people.
Given the majority of posters on this site are bleeding-heart, Left wing, Liberals, it's no wonder most posters don't want to discuss a racial incident that highlights a senseless murder committed by a person of color.
So thankful we left Dallas years ago and moved to a place with no racial problems. The Dallas area is the kind of place where the news reports consistently play down shocking racial news for fear of igniting a race war in a huge metropolitan region.

I'm surprised this didn't spark a BLM/defund the police riot.

Most of my formative years were spent in a planned bedroom community north of Dallas called The Colony. Frisco is just to the east and used to be nothing but fields. We never had racial discord in that area back then. You couldn't pay me to live in the DFW metroplex now. Its become a blue haven from what I've seen.

There are witnesses to this so let the court/jury decide if there was motive, if this was premeditated, or self defense.

Both the suspect and the victim and their familes have a lot of hate towards them posted on social media sites. People are passing judgement even though they were not there. Reminded me of the Trevon Martin case and how divided this country was at that time.

Nothing will bring back that young man who lost his life....and regardless of the outcome of the trial the suspect will never know a normal life going forward.

I live in this area and pray not to get summoned for this jury.

Why? Could you not be objective? BTW... in my formative years I lived in The Colony from '77 to '87. Frisco was nothing but a field we passed on the 121 on our way to Prestonwood mall. Now look at it. . Times sure do change.

Frisco has grown beyond recognition and is still growing. It even has a high rise skyline now.

You ask why - Because anyone who serves on this jury will likely be harrassed and probably threatened if the verdict doesn't go the way people think it should. Just look around the social media sites filled with hate posts coming from BOTH sides. I'm betting this trial that will divide the nation as much as the Zimmerman/Treyvon Martin case did.

Says who? Trump told the visitors to the capitol to be peaceful.
After telling them they would have to fight to save their country.

And of course he just stood and watched it even after the chants of “Hang Pence” started. Didn’t seem to have any sense of urgency when they didn’t obey him.

When does he ever tolerate disobedience?

And he still pardoned them.

So was ok with them not being peaceful.

Do they not cover figures of speech in Canadian schools? He specifically told them where to walk peacefully. That's how you can tell what's a figure of speech, and what is specific instruction. Did you even read the transcript or do you just go by soundbites from the MSM?

Except they weren't, so leadership failure?
🤔
About as much as any other riot under any other President I suppose: do you consider every riot to be the leadership fault/failure of the President with whom you think the rioters in question generally line up ideologically?

That depends on the circumstances. In this case, the crowd in question had attended a rally where the incumbent president spoke about how the election was stolen and people had to make their voices heard and "fight" for their country or some such sentiment so Congress would know their discontent as they certified the election results. That same crowd then marched on the US Capitol and eventually rioted while the president did nothing to try and dissuade them for hours. When he finally did, they ceased rioting. One can't help but wonder how differently things would have gone had he made that public comment to them hours before.

Only when the rioters tell the judge they were there because their President told them to be.
Making dumbasses angry has consequences.

So are you against the pardon power of Presidents in general, or only when the mean orange man does it?
Trump pardoned a drug dealer doing life for his part in killing a cop. Guys back in jail now for beating and strangling his wife.
Electing dumbasses has consequences.

Once again: he told them to be peaceful. He told them, specifically, where to peacefully walk (the specific area was NOT closed that day). Given this, there could be no mistaking by any remotely reasonable person that fight like hell was a figure of speech.

Is telling them once not enough? Twice not enough? If so, three times won't be enough for the left either: they've already made up their minds they hate the bad orange man.

If a criminal blames the President for something, it's the President's fault?

Next time I get a speeding ticket, I'll blame Bill Clinton.

Interesting. So it seems they understood his statement as "walk peacefully, then fight like hell" when they got to the US Capitol because that's the way it went down.

Is telling them once not enough?
Apparently not.

Twice not enough?
Twice didn't do the trick either.

If so, three times won't be enough for the left either: they've already made up their minds they hate the bad orange man.
Third time was the charm it seems, but that was well after the damage was done and police officers were assaulted.

Anyway, I'll leave it at that to not derail the thread.

We went over it here line by line.

And I do notice that him just watching it go down wasn’t figured into your dismissal.

If he told them to be peaceful and they disobeyed him why did he not do anything to stop them?

When does he tolerate being disobeyed?
