Or look at the November of 5 years ago? What a dumb example. Furthermore, presidents are not elected by popular vote anyhow.
And the reason why it cannot be translated by the person, or for the person, in question?
Oh, okay. So being an immigrant means they don't pay taxes. Gotcha.
Yeah, the people voting because of universal suffrage almost put a purple heart pansy in the White House. Thankfully the Americans prevented that.
And the reason someone too lazy or too unconcerned to learn the language of the nation they've chosen to live in should be allowed to vote is?
None. If they're too lazy or feel they're too good to learn English, screw 'em.
No. Real immigrants pay taxes, and once they/re naturalized and demonstrated english proficiency and have a taxpaying job, there shouldn't be any problem with them voting.
The illegal invaders, who aren't "immigrants", should be stripped of 100% of all property they hold in the US and tossed back over the boarder naked.
I have some neighbors that I'm assuming are from India and they are willing to live in tighter conditions with more family inside a small space to save money.
On top of all that they keep their place very clean.
You mean its killing you.
And I can live with that.
You're not even making any sense. Did Americans put him in office or didn't they?
Assuming that being lazy is the ONLY reason that they aren't able to learn English.
Being stupid is another reason to deny them the vote.
I'm fair.
Also assuming that learning English is absolutely necessary,
It is.
If you want to be an American.
which I have already show that it is not via Cultural Enclaves (something you conveniently forgotten since you didn't address it).
No, I pointed out that living in a ghetto isn't an American ideal.
There are plenty of people in the US that do not speak English, and they live well adjusted lives in their communities. Why do you ignore this?
Beacuse you're not paying attention.
If they don't want to learn english, it's their choice and that's fine.
if they want to be Americans and vote, they need to learn the damn language.
That's fair.
If they don't want to learn english, it would really be better if they went back home, though, where they'd be happier, right?
One then wonders why did you bring up paying taxes in a conversation about immigrants, unless of course you're talking about illegal immigrants. But then no one has alluded to the notion that the people we are discussing were illegal immigrants. You assumed they were.
No, I never discuss illegal immigrants. They're illegal invaders, or illegal aliens. Immigrants are present in accordance with existing law, not in spite of it.
You're malcontent with immigrants in general has already been exposed (by your own commentary).
No. Your refusal to recognize the meaning of the word "illegal" has been highlighted by your posts.
No.
Americans stopped the Purple Heart Pansy from taking the White House, that they had to protect the nation by electing Bush instead is merely an indication to the low standards this nation has sunk to.
But it would have been lower if Kerry had managed to slip in.
Being stupid is another reason to deny them the vote.
I'm fair.
It is.
If you want to be an American.
No, I pointed out that living in a ghetto isn't an American ideal.
if they want to be Americans and vote, they need to learn the damn language.
No. Your refusal to recognize the meaning of the word "illegal" has been highlighted by your posts.
Does having the right to (x) mean that you have the right to have others provide you the means to exercise your right to (x)?
Please be sure to explain your answer.
Thank you for admitting that you have no idea what the Electoral College is.
Why? You have yet to show any reason why they must learn English.
And the last time I checked, as long as you are an US citizen, you are able to vote regardless of what language you speak or not speak.
I don't recall saying that.
How's about if you post a quote from me saying so.
Just because I don't follow your pushes doesn't mean I"m an ignorant Democrat.
Oh, I forgot. That's right. They wrote the Constitution in First Kingdom Hieroglyphics.
You didn't have say it, your ignorance did.
So since our laws are written in English, that means everyone must speak English in order to vote?
What does this even accomplish?
Why is this even considered a requirement?
Does it somehow root out the "bad" voters?
Does it somehow improve the quality of the voting process?
Stop with this juvenile babble already. You've got no justification for your idiotic reason.
Wow, it's amazing how things work by osmosis, isn't it?
You mean outside of establishing the unity of culture that all nations must have to survive in the long term?
How happy is Canada with it's pathetic french speaking minority who pretend that French is the language of the first people to settle the area? How stable is that, how well have the bogus compromises worked to keep the loons at bay?
Since it's my country, the United States, it's perfectly reasonable to demand that people wishing to participate in elections speak my language. They moved into my home, not I, theirs.
Because it keeps the illegal aliens from the south from taking over as easily.
Yes. It keeps the discussion in english, prevents the formation of special interest group enclaves manipulated by unscrupulous community organizers.
You could try paying attention to how politics works in a free republic sometime, and how those free republics are turned into workers paradises.
But I'm used to teaching Democrats and socialists and other little children about the real world.
Can you tell me what language the North and the South spoke during the Civil War? So much for unity of culture.
So, your counter argument is that culture is defined solely by language.
Good for you.
Your ability to read and comprehend is astounding.
I know.
Your ability to argue against what hasn't been said isn't.
Unless of course, you're an immigrant who can speak 8 different languages but does not speak English, of which the literacy test is based on...
Illiteracy in English =/= Stupid
If that person was such a ****ing genius then why didn't they have the foresight to make English one of their languages?
/fail
I take it you're going to continue to ignore the meaning of the word "illegal"?
Why does that matter if it does not take away their right to vote?
Dodge questions much?
I would expect that only from people of similar political and social group as me.Does having the right to (x) mean that you have the right to have others provide you the means to exercise your right to (x)?
Please be sure to explain your answer.
This is the second time I have to remind you that we are not talking about illegal immigrants. We are talking about people who do not speak English.
If t hey can't speak english, they shouldn't vote.
Your failure to keep track of the discussion is probably indicative of some organic failure of your central nervous system.
