Does anyone deny that Blacks are discriminated against in America?

"Why do we need data?"

Yes. CT is that way ---->

Please answer the question. If the question is whether racism against White people happens at all, why can't I answer that question with an anecdote?

One great thing about people having smartphones they can record video with is now we can document the racism in this country. Of course, it's not just America but racism exists all over the world. But if you're not a minority its invisible to you.

But thanks to YouTube and smartphones people who deny that minorities have to deal with racists who sometimes have power over them (police, employers, etc) can see for themselves.

I don't doubt that people of color are discriminated against. That being said there are many "isms" other than racism. Ageism, anti(pick the religion),disabled, overweight, the list goes on and on.

Fact is life isn't fair as they say. So people can either get over it and understand they need to be better than the competition to succeed or give it to whichever "ism" fits.

I don't need to. An anecdote works for establishing that racism against White people does happen.

Interesting...

So if I have an anecdote about a person surviving a fall from a plane without their parachute opening.. its proof that you can jump from planes without parachutes without dying?

Wait:

In December 2006, Michael Holmes jumped out of a plane over Taupo, New Zealand. It was just a routine day for the 25-year-old skydiving instructor who had 7,000 jumps under his belt. But on this day his parachute failed and Holmes fell 15,000 feet before hitting the ground

See.. an anecdote that proves you can skydive without a parachute and live.

Lets go skydiving this weekend huh? I have one parachute for me.. and you obviously don;t need one... right?

think about it a while..then get back to us with some credible evidence of racism against white people.. will you?

OR..the can fight against it.. and use the political process, use economics, and protest.. to say.. oh.. I don;t know.. stop say "segregation". :doh

BOLD: It's proof that a person can fall from a plane without their parachute opening up and survive.

UNDERLINE: One could jump from the plane and survive if it has happened before, but that doesn't mean the probability is on their side. That doesn't mean they won't get injured (possibly permanently), either. So should someone jump from the plane with no parachute? No. Plus, even when a parachute doesn't open, it usually opens a little bit which slows the person down to allow them to survive.

See, an anecdote doesn't answer the question of how often something happens. It can establish that something does happen, though. We're not talking about how much racism against White people happens because calamity has been unwilling to admit that racism against White people ever happens at all.

Do you deny that Whites face racism?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWoC90bbsdo

You know, it's incredibly stupid to say that racism is invisible to people who are not minorities. That's also incredibly racist of you to say, ironically. And since you brought this to the global scale, you should know that Whites are minority globally.

So, let me get this straight. You honestly believe that Whites or Asians experience the same level of racism as Blacks. You believe that after the history of slavery, and after most Southern states voted for a segregationist in 1968, that it all disappeared in few decades? 1968 is not that long ago. Are you saying that within the lifetime of most people, we went from the majority in most Southern states voting for segregation to non-existent racism?

Do you realize how absurd that sounds? Do you realize how Whites or Asians or other races weren't targeted for segregation?

The sheriff's office often runs the jails but that's about it. Second, niether the prison nor police decides on how long a person stays in prison. That would be the courts. Thirdly, most cops do not care about supporting the for profit prison system. That's a field they have very little oversight on. Your average patrolman mainly cares about his personal safety, the general safety of the public, and enforcing the law. Finally, maybe they have such a tough stance on what you may consider small crimes is because of how prevelant they are, not necessarily their race.

I see you have chosen to live in a state of denial. Fortunately, there are facts and you cannot deny the facts.

1. Many municipalities depend on revenue from policing to complete their budget. They use the money to pay officers and buy squad cars and equipment. That's just a fact. The more tickets they give, the more money they make. Fact. You can't deny that.

2. They make most of their money from poor minority communities. That's a fact. You can't deny that.

Now you can deny that it's racism. You can believe that Lousiana has completely changed after the majority voted for segregationist George Wallace in 1968. You can believe that race had nothing to do with why that Black man was given 13-years for marijuana possession. I've learned that you can't argue with people who deny the earth is round, man landed on the moon or that systematic racism still exists in America in covert forms.

But we can change the way we police communities. Municipalities can stop profiting from giving out tickets in poor heavily policed minority neighborhoods. We can stop throwing poor people in prison and making them unemployable for petty marijuana possession or drug addiction. And as a society we can become more aware of these biases where Black men are assumed to be criminals simply because they're Black.

I don't need to. An anecdote works for establishing that racism against White people does happen.

lol...I accept your concession.

I never said anything about the quantity of racism. I have simply stated that all races face racism. This is something that many people on the Left deny, and even people on these boards. I wouldn't even know how to go about quantifying the level of racism each race faces. Here's a tip for you: If you hear something that sounds completely ridiculous, maybe it's your interpretation of what someone else is saying that is completely ridiculous instead.

Then provide data, like I asked.

I don't need to provide data to establish that something happens. That's what anecdotes are for. Data is used to find how much something happens, which is a question we are not addressing here.

Evidence that (1) what you said is true, (2), it's as prevalent as you make it out to be, and (3) your average street cop cares about any of this.
2. They make most of their money from poor minority communities. That's a fact. You can't deny that.

Even if that's the case, crime is prevalent in poor communities. that is also a fact. You can't deny that.

You have yet to prove that it is due to racism.

Sorry, I haven't read any of the replies, but for God's sake the USA had a black president. Some black people are like some feminists, they don't want equal rights, they want special treatment

The issue isn't whether racism occurs. It does and it will. That is human nature. The real question is what qualifies as racism. The left uses a net so huge that practically any misfortune befalling a black person qualifies as racism, either explicit or implied. That is the real problem. We have let the left dictate what is racism and what isn't.

First, let me ask you, are you trying to understand or do you have your mind made up? If you're honestly trying to understand I think I can convince you that there is a serious problem.

What about the OP made you believe anyone wants special treatment? The point of the OP is that Whites are often unfairly perceived as being criminals.

This means that police officers stop them for no reason. It means that they get shot by police officers who perceive them as a threat. It means that given the same evidence a Black man is more likely to end up in prison.

It's actually a major problem in many municipalities like Ferguson where in a town of 21,000 residents there were 16,000 warrants. The police there overpoliced and aggressively ticketed the residents as a way of increasing revenue for the city. It happens in lots of poor communities. Cash-strapped municipalities gain revenue from ticketing. You get the most tickets from the poor neighborhoods. Those are the heavily policed neighborhoods.

I had this girlfriend who lived Bronx NY. When I first met her she told me how she hated the cops. She wasn't a criminal, just an ordinary resident. I didn't understand why she hated the cops at first. But when I would go to pick her up, I would get harassed by cops for no reason. I was treated as a potential criminal. The entire neighborhood was filled with cops and even had these mobile towers that looked like prison towers. I heard so many stories of cops throwing completely innocent citizens to floor and searching them. She was thrown against a wall and searched. This opened my eyes. This is a real problem that you doni't know exists until you go to those neighborhoods.

All I ask is that you keep an open mind. No one is asking for special treatment. We simply don't want to be treated like criminals just because of our race. That's not asking much, is it?

USING FINES TO FUND MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT HURTS LOW-INCOME MINORITIES, JUST AS SHARECROPPING DID A CENTURY AGO

Everything is not about right and left. Try to step outside partisan thinking once in a while. I am not "the left." "The left" doesn't exist. There are different groups and individuals people categorize as "the left."

What if a foreigner said "Americans are awful people"? The logical problem is there is no single unified group of Americans. Your thoughts and ideas become distorted when you speak in such vast generalities.

I think a simple rule is to treat people the way you would like to be treated.

The point is that liberals, Democrats, the left, however you want to characterize them, have decided what is racist and what isn't. You opposed Obama? You're racist. You oppose illegal immigrants coming into the country? You're racist. You support Trump for whatever reason? You're racist. You're a straight, white man? You're racist and probably hate women and gays, too. Who can have any rational discussion with such people?

Evidence that (1) what you said is true, (2), it's as prevalent as you make it out to be, and (3) your average street cop cares about any of this.

If you send an average street cop to a poor neighborhood and ask him to write tickets, he'll do his job.

Regarding 1, 2, you can do your own research if you care. There are countless studies and research proving it's true. At the very least you could finish watching the video you said you stopped watching after 3 minutes.

Opposing Obama is not racist. Assuming he is an Affirmative Action recipient without evidence is racist. Saying he was born in Kenya is racist. Calling him arrogant is racist. Stating that he is the worst president ever, given the obvious bad presidents far worse than him who are white, is racist. Waving posters depicting him in African tribal garb is racist. Calling his wife an ape is racist. Do you get it yet?
