Ok, realize that AI can do any white collar job right out of the box. The only thing it can't do
(yet) is where a job requires physical interaction with something. Like jackhammer in the
street, dentist and so on. But, engineers will solve those problems one by one. When AI is
now doing everything, humans are simply drinking pina coladas by the pool. That also means
humans have no way of earning money to live, so, the government will have to give each one
a monthly stipend from taxes it collects from the robot companies. That's Communism. Y/N?

I think some kind of UBI is very likely, as is collective ownership of at least some of the AI means of production, yes. Whether that's "communism" as we understand it is debatable. Keep in mind that communism, socialism, and capitalism are all economic theories that came from the Industrial Revolution, when the world was a very different place.

I doubt an AI-driven post-scarcity economy will fit so neatly into our economic theories of today. It will probably be something completely new.

I've heard the theory called "technosocialism," and probably, yes.

But I think we get there via violent revolution against the uber-wealthy class. They're not going to willingly give up that much wealth. They'd rather kill millions. And the billions of people without options aren't going to just lay down and die.

HA! Look at the reality. Americans voted Trump in knowing what he was for. Americans voted for GOP members regardless of knowing what they stood for. People are actually...OK with dying and not putting up any resistance. If they are against death, then why do nations like North Korea exist, etc? If people were not willingly ok with dying by the uber-'wealthy', etc, then there would not be social norms accepted by humans.

The robots will enslave us before we reach that point

The few who own the AI - the means of production - will be sipping by the pool. The rest of us will be subsisting in squatter camps like it's ****ing Mumbai...

You assume everyone gets to drink pina coladas by the pool, and not just the rich, that is assuming alot.

This is not even close to true.

Anyone who reaches a computer "help" system quickly learns the limitations of these systems. Call your local ISP for a crash course if you don't know what I mean.

You present the same myths that were perpetuated about computers in the 1960's- many of them verbatim.

Slackers of the world unite - all you have to lose are your last few brain cells.

Rehashed Marxist class warfare is TOO funny in this context.

I think you wildly underestimate what AI is capable of right now, and how quickly it's improving...let alone where it will be in a few years.

For fun, I loaded 100 pages of documentation for my master’s certification capstone project into an AI chat program.

Told it to complete the assignment.

It kicked back a completed assignment - with references, formatted in my preferred format, etc - within 2 minutes.

And now I’m sitting here comparing MY work (that I’ve been working on for a week) to the AI document and I’m absolutely astounded with what it produced.

2 minutes.

And that’s probably a lag for my crappy wifi.

This can of worms has vast reaching implications

It's only a matter of time until AI determines pesky humans serve no purpose for society and decides we're the biggest threat to the planet's well-being.

A couple days ago, I had ChatGPT give me feedback on a fictional Constitution that I had written for a fictional country (sort of my ideal for how government should operate). It gave me awesome feedback...not just stuff like "You made a typo here", but an in-depth analysis of how my fictional Constitution operated. Its feedback was stuff like:
  • Have you considered how politicians might game this provision for political gain by doing X, Y, and Z?
  • This part is essentially how it works in Germany, and that aspect of their government is among the best in the world.
  • Israel tried something similar to what you are proposing in this article a few years back, and it didn't work well because of A, B, and C.
  • Have you thought about the tradeoff between political stability and flexibility that you are requiring by including this provision?
Really high-quality feedback with a deep understanding of political science and history. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that our AI overlords will be running our government before too much longer...and given the current state of our government, perhaps that's for the best.
