Just wondering do people use amazon less lately and what is the reason.

I have heard many claim it was over treatment of parler and support of biden. Most recently I have scaled down amazon use but for an entirely different reason.

In 2020 my amazon service has gotten worse, not from amazon itself but from sellers, I had never had disputes with sellers until 2020, but come 2020 I have had broken items shipped, defects, and sellers who flat out refused to give a damn like they thought they were gods gift to earth. This is odd because a year ago I never had this problem with amazon sellers, I would assume the whole pandemic and the surge of online shopping caused some sellers to assume their profit was a given and not give a crap. Luckily amazon does have their money back guarantee, but I prefer to work with the seller to get a replacement for what I bought, which had always worked until this year.

Now in the last few months amazon just has not worked for me, it seems most sellers are price gouging and amazon often does not carry what I want. I started to realize too much of what amazon carries is more than walmart.com sometimes double or triple. Shipping has also gotten much worse, walmart has been fairly consistent, while amazon lately is giving me 2-4 week shipping times on many items other sites would give a week for.

In the end in the last month I have been buying more from walmart.com than amazon, most things are way cheaper for the same product, shipping is usually faster, and amazon sellers seem to be price gouging with amazon not doing much to stop it.

I've never used Amazon.

I don't buy things online save for the rare games from STEAM (last time was 3 years ago).

I don't have any online accounts other than my Google account required for access to YouTube (and which I never use for any other purposes), the Microsoft account required for my operating system, an old Yahoo Mail account I've had since forever, which I also rarely use; STEAM because I am required to do so for the computer games I have (pisses me off no end); and this one online Forum...literally the only one I am on too.

i use it about the same as i did before, which is occasionally. my wife uses it a lot. as for parler, their provider didn't want to be associated with them and told them to get bent. it happens, and that's what i like to call a TS situation.

Oh then this thread was not for you. I personally prefer to just buy everything in person, but stores often sell extremely limited inventory so for anything beyond common household essentials it has often become mandatory to buy online.

The most recent purchase was gun browning solution, 17 bucks from walmart.com, no one within hundreds of miles listed having it in stock despite claiming they carry it, local academy said they carry it sometimes but shipments are erratic and they may get 4 bottles a year and if you do not know when the shipments arrive you are sol.

But to be truthful I wish everything I need to be bought at the store, but stores seemed to have been downsizing to the absolute most basic crap. Heck I can barely find a store that carries 10mmx1.5 bolts, the absolute most common thread size used in automobiles across the world, they want me to order them online and only sell standard sized for old trucks from the 60's and 70's that are not even common anymore. It has moved to a if it does not sell if 15 minutes you must buy it online economy.

Use Amazon about as much as I did last year. Probably average 2-3 deliveries a week. My wife does about the same. That’s not including books which I almost always buy electronic copies of to read on my phone or iPad. That’s another couple a week.

Complain to Amazon. Anyone can get anything for free on Amazon or Ebay. For Amazon, just click that it is "used merchandise." You don't have to prove it. Or claim it is dangerous and hurt you. Remember, buyers do not have to prove their claims. All claims are accepted as fact. Amazon will remove the listing, give you your money back and you don't have to return whatever it is. Same for Ebay. Paypal gives nearly everyone their money back and keep whatever you got.

For example, we used to sell a lot of Amazon, until tiring of their fees and their "everything is free!" policy. A person bought a product from us that is 99.99% pure silver. We has a rather costly proof it is by the #1 testing lab in the USA used by most major companies and the US government. The person filed a chargeback.

His complaint? That it wasn't the color brown and that REAL silver is brown. Amazon gave his money back, let him keep it for free, and removed our listing for that item. We appealed. Amazon agreed that pure silver is brown in color. All American silver dollars that aren't brown are fake. That was Amazon's ruling. We learned that anyone can get anything for free on Amazon many times and finally said to hell with this.

Also, don't think there is any protection by policing by other merchants. We reported a product with a lot of reviews (meaning a lot of sales) for internal usage as a health product - homemade product. Very expensive, promised to cure everything. However, on the ingredients list not only are poisons, but even a radioactive poison. But Amazon never considers any reports from other merchants. It's probably still for sale. $399 for 16 ounces of highly concentrated liquid cancer. It was so expensive because it is so extremely concentrated. Who reads the tiny print on labels of miracle cures anyway?

A study showed that over 80% of all health related products on Amazon are 100% fake having NONE of the claimed ingredients and nearly all are homemade. That miracle herbal blend probably is grass clippings from a lawnmower. That miracle liquid for $39.95 for 8 ounces probably is 8 ounces of water with a teaspoon of bleach (that is a very popular item tons of people sell as affiliate seller). There is no disease it will not cure according to the listings. Amazon probably takes more of a profit cut selling that than does the merchant, unless it is Amazon selling it directly. Over 50% of products on Amazon now are sold directly by Amazon, not any merchant.

You may not have noticed there are few big ticket items on Amazon or Ebay anymore unless hugely marked up. Nearly all is Chinese crap, fake knock-offs, factory seconds, and otherwise crap.

Also, Don't even think about buying anything you might put in and on your body. Amazon and Ebay 100% ignore all FDA, USDA, and Dept of Agriculture laws. Amazon is too big to have to comply with any laws or regulations - and if this gets you killed you agreed in the contract with Amazon there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. You agreed you can never sue Amazon. You can ask for an Amazon mediator to rule for you. I suppose some fools try.

That is kinda really messed up, I do not buy stuff to scam and get free stuff, I buy stuff because I want or need that stuff and am willing to pay a proper price for it. If I have a problem like the product is delivered broken, I show pictures to the seller, a good seller sends a new product even if it was not their fault but ups or usps or fedex that damaged it, then they try to get their money back after from shipping if shipping ruined it.

Maybe I have too much honesty working a job that deals with customers, I am honest and work to deliver the product they paid for, and as a buyer I intend to be honest and recieve the product I paid for in the manner it was intended, but I could never stoop low enough to just try and get free crap while screwing over sellers, I would not even get amazon involved unless the seller flat out refused to deal with the issue, which every dealer had been prompt dealing with such until 2020 in which I actually started having to go to amazon support, most of the time the seller would ask for a picture as proof then flat out refuse to respond.

In 2019 or earlier it was common if my item was shipped broke or defective I would send a picture as proof and they would be like no problem bro we will send a new one asap.

I support Amazon's removal of Parler. I do try to use their service less though. But only because local businesses need our support now more than ever.

My local businesses sell cheap Chinese shite too. I can literally order hundreds of random items from Wish and go pick them up from a local convenience store.

Watch out with wish, so far I have heard they are the ebay of yesteryear, ie they sell a bunch of chinese goods, but half are on par with the price and the other half flat out scams.

The idea behind wish works but as of right now it is hit or miss whether you will get a good item or get scammed with a product of complete garbage.

Most of the items I purchase from Amazon are items I can find easily at there site, but would take me some time to go out hunt down. I will pay a slightly higher premium for convenience.

I use it about the same as before. Perhaps a bit more as of late; in the mid days of COVID we were having delivery issues but they are straightened out now. Certainly their actions with Parler are incentive to spend more but we don't need much right now.

I seldom buy stuff from Amazon. Most of the stuff I buy I can get locally. If there is a problem with the merchandise, I take it back to the store.

This year, though, was a one-off exception. I decided to upgrade a lot of my camping gear in preparation for spring. I was going to stretch out the purchases over a few months, but that $600 that Nancy gave me was well timed. I had seven or eight packages this month. Now, I'll go back to a package every two or three months or longer.

Regarding damaged stuff, yeah...that's always a risk. I read customer reviews, look at customer pictures, etc. Most everything I bought lately had a few reviews that showed damaged to the items. If it's excessive, I move on to a different listing. So far, I haven't had any equipment come to me damaged.

Oh...even though I won't be using the gear for another couple months, I unpacked everything and checked it out immediately. Even the tent, though I had to wait for the snow to melt in the backyard to set it up. The last thing I need is to get out to the woods and find out the tent came to me broken.

1. Mr. Bezos, the owner of Amazon, also owns the Washington Post, which was ghastly toward The Donald.

2. A lot of people, therefore, declined to patronize Amazon.

3. I had no such compunctions, for I need Amazon much more than it needs me.

4. I give credit to Amazon for saving so many of us during this horrible pandemic.

5. I continue to be a loyal customer. In fact, just this morning, I ordered some baby powder and it may arrive tomorrow.

6. Before the pandemic, I seldom used Amazon.

Use Amazon quite a bit more than before.... Amazon now has a pharmacy which I started using... Simple, easy and cheap...

Amazon's prices haven't been the best lately and I have been finding stuff cheaper at places like walmart or target. I tend to go back and forth based on prices every six months or so.

In terms of the political stuff, I don't care (I even eat at chick fil a too!)

Heck no! I use it more than ever...they get all my money... :p

Same.

My house.

Not less, more. I use Amazon now for nearly everything. However, you have to keep an eye on pricing.

We bought a tub of Peanut butter for $6 a few months ago and the re-up jumped to like $10. So, I found a different brand. My wife says that they do this a lot. Bag of beans was like $2 and jumped to $6. Stuff like that.

I use Amazon about the same as I always have, but I've noticed that they have become very lax about honoring their Prime shipping time frame.

Less.

They opened up this Amazon return store here called Retail Rebel where they sell Amazon/Ebay/Etc items that have been returned in large bins. They restock on Saturdays where items are $10 (used to be $5 dang it) and then every day it drops down in price until eventually it's $.50 on Fridays. I've gotten some great stuff there although with COVID this year I visit less and only on the lower price days mid afternoon when it's less busy and always mask and glove up.

From what I heard on the news anyone can buy a pallet of returned amazon items for a set amount then you just open it and see what you got. I haven't really looked into it since I go to that store but it sounds like if you have some extra money it'd be fun.

I have actually noticed recently not just amazon sellers, but amazon itself has been price gouging, some things sold local could be double or more on amazon, sometimes it looks like they feel they can price gouge because people are scared to leave their house or are so lazy they would pay double to get their groceries rather than put clothes on and drive to the store.

Truthfully I think amazon is going to fall rapidly in 2021, walmart.com has been upping their game and offering better shipping and on average better prices, and I feel amazon is probably not going to try to compete until they see walmart or some other retailer eat a big chunk of their market share, in which they might get off their ass and try again like they did before 2020.

I use Amazon a lot. I hate their politics, but they provide a great service. I started using Amazon because I grew tired of going to big box stores like Home Depot and others to buy an item (usually plumbing parts, car parts, electronic parts, small engine parts), only to have the big box not have them in stock, and then I'm driving around searching. So, Amazon makes it so simple, and generally prices are competitive, plus I get free shipping. And then if there is a problem, returns are SIMPLE and they stand behind their customer service policies---even if you are dealing with a vendor that puts up a stink---- Amazon will solve the problem in my experience.

I used to prefer buying part on ebay, and still do. But with a bad seller on ebay the process to get them to make it right takes waaaay longer than Amazon. I received a damaged product from an ebay seller and it took two months to get ebay make them do a refund.

Plus, the Amazon stocks I bought years ago have made me very, very, very happy in my retirement. VERY happy.

The same. And it's quite a bit because I have a Kindle and do all my reading on it. My bookshelves outgrew 4 rooms in my house and now all my fiction and most non-fiction books are electronic.
