Do you think Trump should run for president again in 2028?

Do you think Trump should run for president again in 2028?

Stupid question.

Agreed.

We all know that if he did, you and all the other MAGA clowns would support him.

You won't even deny it now, which is surprising, because you guys don't normally have any shame about immediately switching positions as soon as Trump says to.

Trump got his acquiescent Supreme Court to rule that the 14th Amendment didn’t apply to him, so why not the 22nd?
Considering it was a unanimous decision your point has little merit.

I read the whole thing. And I am familiar with over a century of case law upholding birthright citizenship.

Attempting to abrogate the Constitution by executive order royal decree is a fundamentally anti-constitutional position. Trump voters are fundamentally anti-constitution.
are you SERIOUSLY ASSERTING that writers of the 14th would be fine with a pregger tripping across the border and popping out a "citizen". ducking out it. Diddn't they in fact assert that at least one of the parents had to have a continuing legal relationship to the country?

Some interesting information

Yes, they obviously would have been fine with that. We had an open border policy when the 14th was written. If she pops out a baby on American soil, the baby inherits from the soil the right of jus soli. That was exactly the intent.

No, the authors of the 14th Amendment asserted no such thing.

You are missing the point though. Regardless of what you may think of that part of the constitution, there is a constitutional process for repealing amendments. A process that does not involve unilateral royal edicts.

Trump disregarded the Constitution, and his supporters supported disregarding the Constitution. It isn’t an isolated case either.

He disregarded the constitutional authority of congress when they denied funding for his vainglorious wall.

He disregarded the Constitution with his tariffs. And with deportations. And by accepting emoluments. Etc.

He has a pattern of disdain for the Constitution, as do his supporters.

Yes he should. Let's see how the 2nd Amendment lovers deal with an authoritarian president.

He can't run because it would be unconstitutional. No further conversation is needed.
Sadly, that probably will not stop him from trying. He's already had Trump 2028 hats made (the were made in China).

actually I've seen several pieces asserting the opposite.

No need to repeal the amendment - send it to SCOTUS for review.

Absolutely wrong. Get Trump out of your head and explain how the people writing and 14th would in anyway desire wide open immigration with no caveats. At the time of the writing much of the discussion was on dealing with that issue. This link I provided above discusses this pretty well.

A kegger of godly, frustrated patriots. Any violence that day was committed by ANTIFA agitators to make MAGA look bad.

Many, many people have said
Wrong.

It was FBI.

No MAGAts ever do anything bad.

You're Trump-smacked. I provided discussion and your response always boils down to "Yeah, but Trump". It's disabled every last grain of logic and common sense you possess. I give up.

Opinion pieces from fellow MAGAts? Fanfics, perhaps?

There was no restriction on entry into the US until the Page Act of 1875. Immigrants who gave birth on American soil gave birth to American citizens, period.

The authors of the 14th believed in the right of jus soli, and they had the support to enshrine the right of jus soli in our Constitution. That is all there is to it.

The fat **** will Choke on a cheeseburger more likely, but if the opportunity presents itself, he will.
Do you think the opportunity could possibly become available?

Do you think the opportunity could possibly become available?

Greater than 0% chance.

Every day Trump does something totally contrary to our laws and traditions.

I think sending the Guard to LA. And D.C. are good examples of this, and when stuff like this happens Trump supporters not only refuse to voice any criticism, they support it.

I wish I could say it was just propaganda, but I think it’s clear Republicans have become authoritarians who have no intention of sharing the country with Democrats and they now feel justified using almost any means necessary to stay in power.

And all his supporters will need is an excuse, just like all they needed were false allegations of election fraud in 2020.

Normally.......that would be true. We are NOT dealing with a normal person or situation....and he has broken more norms in the short time he has been in ofice ....than folks are willing to count. If there are rules to be broken.......he is your man.

I think the constitution and laws on the matter are pretty clear. You could say this is settled law.

Eh! What? Yea he ran and was elected by the majority of votes both in the ballot box and the electoral college.

He was elected by people who do not respect the Constitution. Why would anyone expect them to suddenly start respecting the Constitution now?
