No. Bring about her apocalyptic visions for some end-time bull**** at the expense of the rest of the citizens and their children who do not share her whackjob beliefs.

Her whackjob beliefs? As opposed to what has been happening?

I don't think any of that will be in play. I just look forward to laying waste to the professional education bureaucracy's cozy self-dealing. Bring on the destruction; we'll deal with what's left later.

Why do you think I don't believe you when you say this? See if you can answer that question sincerely.
Because your views on how to fix education are wildly different than ours.

Tell you what. You guys address teacher turnover, the standardized test takeover, discipline in the classrooms (something on which I am far less liberal than you would think), and a whole host of other factors, and maybe we'll talk.
We are, you just aren't listening.

I tend to take people at their word, and those were essentially her words.

So you would rather take a cookie cutter Communist approach? Sorry, but Education MUST be locally controlled.

So you believe that mandating that 2 + 2 = 4 is "Communist." Got it.

Conservatives LOVE HER..seriously. They love her about as much as they hated Obama. And that's a lot.

I wouldn't nominate her for the White House dog walker.

It's 'done nothing'? Hardly. Could it be better? Of course.

But it's not 'communist' no matter how much you wish it were.
Come on now. "Outcome based education", NCLB, Common Core, and other educational fads rather than focusing on the basics? No wonder our kids do so poorly.

I have no problems going back to things like phonics, etc...

My problem is with the rankly unfit individual Trump has nominated.

And, again, having federal controls simply isn't 'communist.'

Wow. What a tremendously irresponsible approach to an issue that affects the lives of so many children.
An entirely reprehensible position...:doh

In what universe is the corporate takeover helping solving teacher turnover and the standardized test takeover?

Definitely yes. It's time for a radical restructuring of American education.

We have been doing just that all of my live, and I am 55, nothing has worked. In fact most reforms dont get tried long enough to know if they can work or not, the people who run education have done nothing but fail, to include failing to believe in their own reforms....they keep bailing. Even alleged successes like getting more people to graduate HS have been failures, because while they get the numbers up the way they have done it is by cheating on the numbers and lowering standards, which at the end of the day weakens America.

They are out of time, the American people have given up on the people who run education. Even the Universities. The elites claims of what an education secretary should look like no longer has much validity, because they have had what they wanted all along, and it has not worked.

The Rebellion thus should get what they want.

WE WON

I believe that a NYC approach to a rural school district in Billings, Montana would not work. Each School district has unique needs. And a cookie cutter approach just won't hack it.

Market forces force competition, competition creates motivation to improve, profit is induced by hiring the best you can. These are all things Public Schools currently lack; little to no competition, no motivation to improve cause all you can do is push for tenure and seniority rates above performance. Why try harder when it's just about how long you can trduge?

We could not do worse than we are doing now. My wife and I raised three well-educated and successful children by steering them around the many flaws of US education.
