According to the polls, 60% of Americans support cutting taxes, even if it means higher deficit. 74% of Republicans support this. 55% of Democrats oppose cutting taxes, even if it means higher deficit. Back in 1996, only 23% of Americans supported lowering taxes, if it means higher debt.

Cutting taxes does not increase the debt. Spending beyond revenues is what increases the debt, in all cases.

Yes, because taxes are too goddamn high. We get taxed on everything - income, sales, investments, you name it. Earn money? The state takes a big cut. Spend it? They take another cut. Save or invest? That gets taxed too. Own a house? You’re paying rent to the government forever in the form of property tax - miss a payment and see who really owns your home. This is not a system of "public service", it’s legalized extortion. The state is worse than the mafia, because at least the mafia doesn't pretend shaking you down is for your own good.

Cutting taxes of course increases the debt. Cutting taxes while also increasing spending, increases the debt more so. The latter is what republicans do every time they are in power. The slash revenue and then outspend democrats.

Do you know how basic accounting works? Like debits and credits?

I keep on hearing Libertarians say the US government should be run like a business, but a business that cuts spending and doesn't bring in any new money is a business that fails in the long run.

I support a more fair tax system that will cut the net taxes for some and increase them for others.

Only one tax rate for everyone.

Only individual filing for the wage earner.

Some tax deductions acceptable, everyone gets a single tax deduction for themself.

No tax credits.

I think the difference now is this: More people now realize that cutting taxes won't necessarily increase deficits. More people now understand that it is spending that increases the deficit. More people now understand that cutting taxes unleashes the economy and results in economic growth and increased revenue.

How about road maintenance?
Maybe the fire department?
The military are expensive, why not just abolish that and you can have a massive tax cut.

One effect of tax cuts is a loss in revenue and that's what pays for public services.

How is that a made up statement?
