I learned today that 30% of voters plan on or have already voted early.

Who here on DP is doing this? Seems like the sensible thing to do to me. Avoid the lines.

Early voting starts Monday for me here in Florida, and it is just down the road a mile or 2, so I will pop over there and see if there is a wait Monday, if not I'll vote, if so I'll try again in a day or so.

Seems the sensible thing to do, I have a feeling election day is going to be a cluster#%@$.

I submitted my absentee ballots already, but for the in-person vote, I have to wait until election day.

I'm not going to vote early... I never trust absentee ballots... I don't know why.

So since I'm voting for McCain, I'll be voting at my polling place on November 4th. All you Democrats have to wait till November 5th to vote for Obama. Everyone remember they changed that this year so the lines aren't so long. Be sure to spread the news.

Early voting doesn't have to be by absentee ballot, at least not here (and I assume it is much the same in most places). You can actually go to the court house and vote right on the spot.

I've got my absentee ballot sitting right here, I just haven't sent it back yet. I never go to the actual polling place, it's always a long line because they don't know what the hell they're doing. The last time we went, because my wife didn't get her ballot in the mail and we forgot to go get another one was in 2004 and we stood there for more than an hour waiting.

Screw that. I've got permanent absentee status for a reason. My time is valuable.

The lines will probably be long this year too. A lot more of us should vote absentee. That way you know you voted, no glitches or long lines kept you from doing this very important thing.

Exactly. Plus, you don't have to get in and rush because you have people waiting for the booth, you can take your time, make your selections carefully and be sure you didn't miss anything before you send it off.

Sorry, the stupid little sticker doesn't mean a damn thing to me.

If my daughters bring in that sticker, two of their professors are offering a full letter grade bump, just for voting.
