Has Biden's policies created an immigration problem? Or is it just people trying to escape poverty and violence I their home countries. Seems no matter who is president these people keep coming.

All around America there is a shortage of willing workers. Looks like we could easily use more labor.
look at the sheer numbers of illegals swamping the border who are mostly unskilled, have language barriers
are not tested for COVID (unless symptomatic).
They are shipped off to locals without the feds giving money for their upkeep(schools/food and medicine).
They become an economic burden and require resources
There have been many cases of migrants having terrible criminal records, and we are not catching about 1/3 who evade border patrol who are career criminals. Plus they drive criminal behavior by those here who smuggle them inland.
a woman and her daughter were recently killed in Tx by a US citizen (18 years old) fleeing from cops as he smuggled migrants
Many bring fentanyl. OD deaths are skyrocketing -and its not because of Rx opioids -its fentanyl

Then there is the cartels -made rich by Bidens inability to even curtail the migrants, and are subjected to abuse by traffickers
I wont even get into how unfair it is to legal immigrants, or the fact migrants have no particular allegiance to USA values as they come for the jobs/money. They say so when interviewed

We are going to hit 2 million encounters -not counting the "get aways" - they are a drain on the economy
and drive down unskilled workers wages
Nothing good about any of this. If Biden had simply left Trump polices in place ....but Biden is a screw up

Don't you think it would be nice if WE get to select the best immigrants, and not just have an open border where 90% of the immigrants flooding in are not even educated in their own countries, many are already pregnant, and after arriving pumping out more kids who end up a public assistance?

How many more car wash and fast food employees do we need? There should be a basic requirement that anyone immigrating here have at least a college degree, no criminal record, a long work history, and assurance they AND their children will not end up on welfare. AND that just because they get here, that doesn't mean they get to bring over every aunt, uncle, grandparent, and cousin too.

We need immigrants, but we really ought to demand better immigrants than we are getting. Any immigrant who arrives here by violating our laws....well, just how good of citizen can that person ever be? Most illegal immigrants go onto commit welfare fraud, ID / document fraud, and other low level offenses at minimum.

Really

You believe this drivel?

You really should change your information sources

We have never had an immigration problem. Immigrants are the backbone of this country and are the ancestors of our citizens. Even the Native Americans migrated here from somewhere else.

We do have a major problem with enforcing our immigration laws, securing our borders, and treating people equally all across the world when it comes to immigration to our country. With10's of millions if not over a 100 million people who would like to immigrate to our country it is clear we cannot let them all come here. Well to anyone with any common sense. While these millions of law abiding people wait patiently for decades to come here legally they are being passed over and out right denied immigration to this country while people with no respect for our immigration laws are being allowed to stay. We currently have leaders who think that people with no respect for our laws from a select few countries should be given preferential treatment over the law abiding people of the world. That is clearly prejudice and wrong.

Seems more like right-wing "hate on the Poor", bigotry, and outright fascism that is the major problem. That and right-wingers having no problem sanctioning less developed economies and then failing to grant automatic asylum to refugees from those nations.

do you know asylum law (criteria)? it has nothing to do with poverty

Right-wingers should be the most for natural rights unless y'all are just plain liars about not being relative communists.

All people are by nature free and independent and have inalienable rights. Among these are enjoying and defending life and liberty, acquiring, possessing, and protecting property, and pursuing and obtaining safety, happiness, and privacy. (California State Constitution)

This is a strange question. Both of those things can be true.

How many of the hundreds of millions of people wanting to escape poverty and violence in their home countries should the US take in every year? And once we reach that number, what should we do to keep it to that?

Any nationals of a foreign nation-State we are sanctioning should be automatically granted asylum once subject to our jurisdiction. Let's term and style it, a market-based metric under our subscription to Capitalism.

Walls are a waste of money. All right-wingers prove is that they prefer to "hate on the Poor". Why not bear true witness to our own Constitutional laws instead of practice the abomination of hypocrisy upon the less fortunate?
We are more for the faithful execution of the laws instead of right-wingers being bigots and alleging we need their fascism to solve our problems.
No we need to have a more strict immigration stance for the sake of the US having a 3 point landing in
the future.

Democracies work best in homogeneous states, in multi-cultural countries democracy becomes a
toxic cocktail! This will not end well!

As our country is rapidly racing toward multi-culturaliam the tragic situation in
once & now former multi-cultural countries should be viewed as the 'canary in the coal mine’.,

You didn't answer my question. But are you saying that any or all of the >100 million people living in countries under US sanctions should be allowed to come here and stay?

How many of them are you going to put up in your spare bedroom?

Nothing but socialism on a national and international basis? Right-wingers always allege they believe in Capitalism, in socialism threads.

Did you know that tourism is the first, second, or third largest employer in twenty-nine States of our Union? Why do right-wingers seem to hate Capitalism, every time it comes up?

I am saying you don't really understand the issue. We don't have an Immigration clause in our federal Constitution. Why are right-wingers being relative Communists with their use of the social power on a national or international basis?

What's this turnabout to Capitalism nonsense? This thread concerns immigration problems & we
are flooded with immigration problems.

As the melting pot that once turned millions of children & grand children of European Immigrants into Americans the last
two generations have extended that logic to assert that we can bring in countless more from every country &
culture & color on earth & create a stronger happier & a more united nation than the America of 1960.

But where on earth has such diversity led to anything other than disharmony & chaos.
It's there for all to see racially, culturally, ethnically & politically America is disintigrating.

Why do you believe that? From my perspective it is simply and merely, unfaithful execution of our own Constitutional law that is the problem not alleged, illegal Immigration since we have no Immigration clause in our federal Constitution.

'we have no Immigration clause in our federal Constitution.'

Correct we do not! Why? Because ALL but 1 or 2 of those who authored the founding documents including the
Constitution hailed from Britain, Ireland & Holland. I doubt any of the founders contemplated further newcomers coming from any other destination than Europe primarily Northwestern Europe. To the founders their world included all of Europe, not much else. Washington saw the future of the fledgling country as almost
all the founders did.

Example:
John Jay was an American statesman, Patriot, diplomat, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States, negotiator and signatory of the Treaty of Paris of 1783, second Governor of New York, and the 1st Chief Justice of the United States said it best.

‘He looked about and saw a country of common blood, faith, languauge, history, customs, culture & principles.

'Providence had also been pleased to give this connected country to one united people, "a people descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government, very similar in their manners and customs. . . . This country and this people seem to have been made for each other, and it appears as if it was the design of Providence, that an inheritance so proper and convenient should never be split into a number of unsocial, jealous and alien sovereignties.”

Jay can actually be considered prophet! Unfortunately the country now is more divided than ever,
as todays America looks like it is 'split into a number of unsocial, jealous and alien sovereignties.'
during the last 50 years

Remember for 350 years after Jamestown the immigration laws of this country were written with one
goal, to preserve the European character of this country.

Right-wingers already reneged on that with their previous, Civil War.
