Why do you believe that? From my perspective it is simply and merely, unfaithful execution of our own Constitutional law that is the problem not alleged, illegal Immigration since we have no Immigration clause in our federal Constitution.
'we have no Immigration clause in our federal Constitution.'
Correct we do not! Why? Because ALL but 1 or 2 of those who authored the founding documents including the
Constitution hailed from Britain, Ireland & Holland. I doubt any of the founders contemplated further newcomers coming from any other destination than Europe primarily Northwestern Europe. To the founders their world included all of Europe, not much else. Washington saw the future of the fledgling country as almost
all the founders did.
Example:
John Jay was an American statesman, Patriot,
diplomat, one of the
Founding Fathers of the United States, negotiator and signatory of the Treaty of Paris of 1783, second
Governor of New York, and the 1st
Chief Justice of the United States said it best.
‘He looked about and saw a country of common blood, faith, languauge, history, customs, culture & principles.
'Providence had also been pleased to give this connected country to one united people, "a people descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government, very similar in their manners and customs. . . . This country and this people seem to have been made for each other, and it appears as if it was the design of Providence, that an inheritance so proper and convenient should never be split into a number of unsocial, jealous and alien sovereignties.”
Jay can actually be considered prophet! Unfortunately the country now is more divided than ever,
as todays America looks like it is 'split into a number of unsocial, jealous and alien sovereignties.'
during the last 50 years
Remember for 350 years after Jamestown the immigration laws of this country were written with one
goal, to preserve the European character of this country.
