Agree, it is one of the dumber ideas Trump has had, even though that is a stiff competition on its own.

But, its not dumb because Canada would be a blue state, its because Canada is a sovereign nation, which makes the idea disgusting and vile.

Here’s why: if he deflects attention from the actual issues here that’s what the media will focus on to an extent. He doesn’t want to give the media time to talk about all his many screw ups, including the impending recession.
