While the stock market is crashing, and while Republicans are plotting extreme cuts to Medicaid, and while Elon Musk is firing federal workers by the tens of thousands, our "Dear Leader" is planning a military parade for himself:

Given that Trump supporters pretend to hate how high the debt is, I am curious if they support spending $90 million for a military parade to satisfy Trump's ego?

I think the phrase Medicare cuts is a bit dishonest. It's just not increasing by as much.

And really this parades about the 250th anniversary of the army. So again this is extraordinarily dishonest and on the face of it no I wouldn't support that but once I get through all the BS I'm puzzled as to why the 250th anniversary the army requires 90 million dollars is it permitting I'm betting it's permitting. There shouldn't be any permits DC belongs to the government so they should be permitted to have this parade for absolutely nothing.

I see this thread developing from his supporters like this:

1. Hes not doing that. Fake news.
2. If he is, its not his idea, its the military's idea.
3. Ok, its his idea, but it makes a lot of sense in some aspects.
4. *&$^&#^# liberals! MAGA!

Just like every other time.

Edit: Did not anticipate the really stupid tack of 'its $90MM of permitting!'

A new low!

For all the damage it's done to the functioning of the people's government, DOGE hasn't actually got around to saving any money. So why not waste a bunch of money on a parade for Dear Leader.

Seems like it's an audit. And the savings will come from trimming the fat.

I suspect this is all spin and nonsense.

I suspect the Trump administration is talking about a parade to celebrate the US Army, but since it's also Trump's birthday, the Trump haters are falsely making it sound like a parade for Trump's birthday.

I would surely support a $92 million military parade to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the US Army. It would be awesome.

True or not, you forgot to mention it is the Army's 250th birthday.

Lefties love to exclude inconvenient facts, as they harm the narrative of hate.

That's all lefties have.

Dishonesty. They cannot win with facts.

I do think that is a bit rich, but damn. 1/4 of a millennium. That is something to celebrate.

So what?

The Army was going to do a big parade again like they always do.

The Army does big parades like every year.

DebatePolitics should start a betting pool about if Trump shows up in uniform with lots of ribbons and decorations (like in the comedy movie)

This again? Well, the subjects will submit and will convolute themselves into pretzels "justifying" the expense.

Currently they're hanging onto..."it's not scheduled!" (sssshhhhhhh...but it is being discussed, planned ;))

Iirc, Trump wanted to do a big parade in his previous admin.

That parade was probably for the Army's upcoming birthday as well.

Do you suppose the Army thought up this current parade idea first and all on their own?

So government Fraud, Waste, and Abuse is okay if it’s “awesome”?

I suspect Trump supporters will disingenuously claim that scheduling a military parade on Trump's birthday has nothing to do with placating Trump's enormous ego and falsely blame Trump critics for being disingenuous.

The permitting bit was indeed quite insane. Some MAGA really should stick to the talking points that the media issues. They're just not cut out for creative deflecting.

You guys are just going to have to learn the hard way, whether it's your retirement fund blowing up in your face, or a loss of jobs. Nothing else will convince you that Trump is a lying sack of shit who sold you all down the river.

“Look how this president is creating jobs.”

How's the irony. We celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Army on the birthday of one of it's most famous draft dodgers. We need lots of people attending to carry large pictures of a bone spur
