Many Americans, who in large part voted for Donald Trump due to his promises to lower food costs, are still experiencing sticker shock every time they grocery shop — especially for eggs. However, whether or not the president can help consumers save money remains to be seen, especially when you factor in the tariffs his administration has imposed.

Even though President Trump previously acknowledged a rise in inflation (while deflecting blame) since he returned to office at the beginning of the year for his second term, it hasn’t slowed his economic plan of attack. Now, halfway through the year, it’s a good time to ask everyone, “Do you think your grocery bills will go down?”

Trump noted that farmers use a significant amount of energy to plant, grow and harvest their crops. Then, it takes more fuel to ship the products to stores. In theory, if the country produces more fuel, the price at the pump will drop. The savings the farmers and shippers realize could then trickle down to consumers.

So drill baby drill is trump's answer to lowering food costs. Meanwhile he's doing his best to destroy the wind and solar programs. This is the shit trump claims are wins.

Will oil companies be forced to only sell their products in America?

Well, if that's his theory of the case and he's right, we are screwed. Diesel is at a one-year high and transport isn't getting any cheaper.

No they don't. His plan entails lowering energy costs and fixing supply lines, over which he has no control.

He's pissing on us and telling us it's raining.

The real question is will the Oil companies be willing to drill and pump oil/gas at a lower price for the product. I believe there is a baseline price for oil/gas that the energy companies are not willing to drop below. The US can put up more leases for sale. That does not mean the energy company will extract the oil.

If it is not profitable for the company to drill and extract. The won't do it.

imo, lower energy costs would help but it is not the total solution. Look at what the tariffs are doing to the price of equipment, metal, products a farmer uses. They are all up. That could offset the savings in fuel costs. So the price of food will not come down.

Of course Trump is wrong. The ONLY way we can get prices back down is to nationalize the food production and distribution systems and properly manage prices. If government takes over we'll see WAY more food on the shelves and mos of what's there will be free. Just ask Mamdani.

Indeed. People will be lining up just to get inside. Like, literally....

Diesel prices are exactly the same as they were 2 years ago. But not as cheap as they were during Trumps first term. The spike you are conveniently ignoring happened during the Biden Mistake. And you were silent when that happened.

I can understand the “drill baby, drill” part of Trump’s approach, but why do harm to wind and solar programs? What’s the reasoning here, if any?

I don't understand it. Oil and gas companies have plenty of unused leases as it now stands, what will giving them more accomplish? The reasoning for renewable energy getting whacked, it's a lib thing is the reasoning.

Sadly trump supporters refuse to listen to reason. I guess economics really isn't that big a thing for the gop after all.

Diesel prices skyrocketed under Bidunce and you werent crying about it then

Two of the three states (California, Texas, and Florida) that have installed solar are not “lib thing” types. More style over substance, I assume, like the troops in DC.

Check diesel prices during Trumps first term and Bidens only term and get back to me.

Unfortunately this is Trump’s second term and it turns out “ride the Obama expansion” isn’t really an economic magical power. At least not a replicable one. :(

Texas is huge on solar so I have to wonder how trump's attacks on solar are helping that red state?

Yes, we have not yet recovered from Bidens oil price shock.

I thought the plan was to just say that grocery prices are lower.

(15 seconds)

So then, along with the drug companies now paying us to take their drugs the egg producers are also going to start paying us for eating eggs. I knew trump was powerful but I'm starting to think he might be stupornatural?
