Even many of the Gopers have said that trump did what the House said, but they are voting to acquit him for varied reasons. The major one seems to be although he did something wrong, it was not "bad"enough to warrant him being forced out of office. So once again like most of his life, trump seems to have done it, but gotten away with it. People have said to me tht he will always be known as one of the president's that were impeached, but I look at Clinton and say, so what. So what now? Will the GOP try and control his actions or just let him do as he wants? Everyone knows that impeachment will not control his actions in any way and now he knows he is free to do anything and he will get away with again..

Just seconds ago heard the acquittal on the radio. Historic as hell. How will history view this mess? Depends on which side your on, I guess. For me, the Schiff/Nadler **** show is over. Will they keep trying?

All his life Trump has always gotten away with it. Trump used his money to "get away" with not paying his bills by suing people. Trump even disobeyed a court order to not destroy document but he did and of course "got away" with it. Now he violates a law and abuses power and once again "gets away" with it. And Suan Collins says he has learned his lesson and will not do iit again. Sorry Susan, but the only thing Trump learned is that the GOP will allow him to "get away" with whatever he wants.

According to the rules in the Constitution, Trump wasn't impeached.

Oh really? :lamo

Sorry dude. He was impeached and will forever be in the annals of history; he just wasn't convicted in the senate due to a lack of votes.

And the first time in history there was an impeachment trial in the senate without witnesses.

Well if that's what you call doing a good job your bar is set below ground level.

Wasn't anything to "get away with". Why would he be "free to do anything"? Impeachment is not a "one and done" scenario. The only thing this prevents is bull****, halfcocked, ultrapartisan, butthurt, revenge-stoked new impeachment attempts. He's still subject to lawful impeachments, not uttering a few innocuous words on a phone call.

Basically we distracted him for a few months so he fixated on this scheme and its aftermath for longer and it stalled off his next effort to cheat in the 2020 election by severalmonths and Ukraine will have to tread very carefully before it decides to make Trump its comrade in arms - for arms. They don't want to make enemies out of the next administration by placating this one. China was smart enough to avoid this trap the first time Trump set it.

By every objective measure, so far Trump has been the best modern-day President. But what really drives Leftist like you insane is that by every objective measure, Obama was the worst modern-day President, and with the two Presidents so close in time to each other it’s easy for everyone to compare them.

Lies, likes, and more lies. Every Republican voting against impeachment in the House of Representatives (and what they said during the hearings) should tell you something: all they cared about was keeping their man in office. Democrats OTOH asked bipartisan questions and never displayed a liberal bias in their word choices. If you watched the hearings, it is obvious only Republicans were biased.

:2rofll:

Of course he did.

Rush and Sean purged integrity and Christianity from the Republican Party over decades.

Didn't we all know that though.

Did Trump"get away with it" again?

yep. the Republican party completed its transition today.

Wrong, but that’s okay if it makes you feel better.

Yankee is correct that Trump can't be convicted of abusing his power of office. Now the only thing he can be convicted of is evading taxes in New York.

Acquitted today, and he'll still be acquitted tomorrow. And the next.

Maybe congressional leftists will actually start working for the country, instead of their party, after this miserable defeat? Time will tell.

He was impeached. That does not go away. Why can’t people get that through the thick heads. He was the third president to be impeached. That stays in the history books. That is all I am saying. Geez.

Really, How many witnesses testified in Clinton's impeachment?

Forever acquitted cannot be disputed, it's a matter of public record. And that is what gets under the left's skin the most. It's sad when you think about it. A man duly acquitted, an act of democracy really, and the left gets all upset. I thought leftists were these self proclaimed champions of democracy? It appears they lied.

Impeachment and acquittal will both be in the history books. That is all I am saying. You need to chill. You just got a victory of a man who should not be president. Congratulations.
