Did the Bible have any impact on the world's morality?

So the Bible is not about any specific moral guidance in it?
Call it a framework. Like learning to color inside the lines. Once you have mastered the fundamental principles which underlie the specifics, you can then work on getting on to the more nuanced elements of the divine. What some people do is make the mistake of thinking the bible is some sort of sacred cookbook, just follow the recipes to the letter and you're good to go. Nothing could be further from the truth.

If it was effective, one would expect to see some measurable statistical difference between those who are exposed to and undergo training in such fundamental principles as a group vs those who don't. But looking at history, it's hard to make a case that it made any measuurable difference to societies exposed to such teachings vs those that weren't. In fact, you could even make a case for the reverse effect.

Like right now, the whole rest of the country is watching in shock and disbelief as the Evangelical community makes a pact with someone as vile, repulsive, and corrupt as Donald Trump. Everyone is wondering where in the world their sense of morality is coming from. Nowhere good, obviously.

Does that mean everyone follows it? No. Does that mean many falsely follow it? Yes
Yeah, well, .... no. It's a very dated sentiment. That might have been sufficient back in 1384, when slavery, child abuse, racism and breathtaking misogyny were not only prevalent, but the order of the day. Clearly, "the gospel alone" is insufficient. The "additional rules" of secular law "made to govern men" have added everything to the meaning of life for countless souls in this country, and on this planet.

Yet, it still works for millions who put it 1st and foremost in their lives...

The world's morality? I don't know.

However, there are some interesting things I've gleaned from study.

Take the Ten Commandments. The first four deal with man's relationship with God. The last six deal with man's relationship with his fellow man.

Jesus said the two greatest commandments are love god and love your fellow man. That encapsulates all Ten Commandments.

Has that ever stopped a war? Probably not. But I don't see how one can start a war while simultaneously obeying these commandments.
Easy. Excusing your actions as "well god said this" or just looking at the times that the same god that gave down the Ten Commandments also commanded a lot of people to be killed in their name. You can get around the "love your fellow man" thing by just saying "well Jesus didn't mean those people". It was done for a long time and still is being done.

Huge difference in trusting man and trusting God...

I suspect that's true. Those who have no problem overlooking child abuse, misogyny, racism, slavery, genocide, et al, are no doubt quite comfortable with it. But I, for one, am glad our more enlightened civilization now has secular morality and laws to fill in behind the glaring shortcomings of John Wycliffe's mid-1300's world view.
