Diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease (1 Viewer)

There are none imparticular. The trick is to eliminate any possible cause of further deterioration chief of which is blood pressure.

Beta Blockers and diuretics are the first line but they are focused on keeping your pressure acceptable.

Kidney disease is about the least of my worries, lol
I am also 71
Don't get all worried about your blood pressure either. It fluctuates greatly and the numbers you posted I still can't get down to.
I ran for years at 160/115.
I have been in the ICU with pressure as high as 230/210

We all get worried about our health, I totally get it.
Nothing is gonna happen. See your neurologist every year and chill. (maybe every 6 months to start)

My question is, who the hell had order your blood work over the years? Kidneys don't just go south overnight and your GFR is standard in routine tests from your primary .
I dont go to doctors alot, in fact very rarely. I had 1 doctor i went to because when i went to the ER to get stitches my BP was around 165-110 so i went to a doc to get bp meds. After that the only time i went to him was to get my BP meds. He did one blood test but that was fine. In 2018 the gout was getting really bad and he told me to take ibuprophen. I was taking alot of it. He died early last year and when i found another doc for the BP meds she did new blood work and thats when she said i was in stage 3 and she asked me what drugs i was taking and said stop the ibuprophen immediately

The kidney doc said since i stopped taking the ibuprophen back in FEB its possible my kidneys might be back to baseline.

They all say that.

They should be prescribing prednisone for a gout attack now that you are in stage 3.

Ibuprophen is not prescribed for a bad gout attack Colchicine is.

I not a doctor. I write this as a disclaimer.

That said, I have been through it all. For decades.

I take allopurinol now

She also said there was no sign of some protein in my urine which is good.

You need to see your primary care every 4 months. Period.
You are not 40-50 anymore when none of us ever got sick.
Another very important consideration, the quality of care. I can't stress this enough. People think a doctor is a doctor. So far from the truth. Get the best. It will take 6 months to get in but it.is well worth it.
Where do you live? You want to have all your doctors cordining with one another and this just does not happen with the guy on the corner.

I'd say good luck but you just don't need it.
All you need is to realize that you are now 71 and you need a good medical team to keep you as healthy as you have been.

All the best

Thanks and same to you.

That is a preventative which when first taking can cause an attack.

I refused it. I have my attacks under control.
I have been on it several months now so that danger is past. I am also on the lowest dose, 100mg, because that can cause kidney problems. The kidney doc said its fine though.
