How naive we were.

Well, you have to understand that transgenderism is not the same thing as transsexualism.

For a transsexual, they have to be evaluated by a psychiatrist and undergo further evaluations and discussions with psychologists before being approved for sex-change surgery and the overwhelming majority of applicants for sex-change surgery are denied.

Transgenders skirt all the "red-tape" and then for any number of reasons regret their stupid hasty Media-influenced decisions.

Are you asking this question because you would like the parents to share in the penalties for mutilating their daughter or are you trying to give a pass to the Dr. Mengele wannabees who performed the mutilation?

What about the scientific evidence proving that not removing unwanted breasts (before age 18) causes suicide? ;)

I can tell you there is literature that shows the opposite- gender surgery reduces suicidal ideation. But it’s not an area I’m particularly interested in.

What I would do is pass a law providing for full immunity for any victim of “gender affirming surgery” as a minor for any acts that would otherwise be criminal against the doctors and hospital employees related to that operation.

Then if you’re a surgeon doing this work you just have to know that maybe decades later someone you messed up as a child is looking for some Justice

I will take it the parents signed the paperwork.
Did the parents get a second/third opinion from doctors from other sources?

Of course they do, but they likely don’t have deep pockets so the lawyers prefer to go after those who do.

Do you somehow think that disruption of the Gulf Stream is not consistent with global warming?

Do you think actual studies showing decreases in suicidal ideation after gender surgery are balanced by the hope that some studies show the opposite?
 
Doctors are supposed to know what social media the person accesses and what influence it has on each individual? That may be true for psychologists and psychiatrists but I don't see how that can be expected of surgeons. Where is the link between the psychiatrist who was treating her in 2017 and the surgeons who removed her breasts in 2018? There is something missing in the narrative.

"A woman who underwent transgender surgery at the age of 16 says she now regrets her choice and has blamed social media for her past decision to transition.

In the years following Hein's surgery, she says that she now regrets her decision and the lawsuit further claims that doctors failed to understand the influence social media had on her and her decision-making in 2018 when the surgery took place.

Defendants knew or should have known that Luka was in a demographic of girls who were exploring transgender identity based on the influence of social media. As such, Defendants were negligent in failing to explore and factor in the influence of social media that clouded Luka's decision making," the lawsuit said. "Defendants failed to meet the standard of care by recommending and/or performing irreversible transgender procedures when Luka may have been swept up in a social contagion and/or unduly influenced by social media."

"Around this same time, Luka was groomed online and preyed upon by an older man from out of state who enticed her to send him sexually explicit pictures. When she refused to send more, he threatened her. She became terrified and law enforcement was notified," the lawsuit said. "An upsetting and difficult investigation followed. The entire incident was traumatizing for Luka and her mental health declined further. Her psychiatrist returned her to the intensive partial care psychiatric program in May 2017."

I put some of the blame on the parents as well. However, in today's PC climate, if they don't agree to treatment, they would be called child abusers.

You suggest she should sue her parents?

All involved should be sued for this i think. The parents and the doctors. She was 16, and could not give consent to such a procedure. No form can fix that.
