Despite Trump's promised cuts, U.S. spent about $220 billion more in first 100 days than last year (1 Viewer)

You can lay blame squarely at the feet of all the judges who ordered him to continue spending money he wanted to cut. You can't have it both ways.
I get that MAGAs are fine with electing a felon - but judges do have a duty to uphold the law and Constitution.

Crazy concept, I know.

My favorite part of all of this is going to come in the next couple of years.

It's very easy to smash open a piggy bank to take the money inside. But it's a heck of a lot harder to rebuild that piggy bank. When you cut money from a budget there are long term effects of cutting said budget. Cut funding for education and maybe you save some money, but have to spend a lot more when they're not very productive adults. All of these budget cuts will have foreseen consequences down the line. Mark my words, in a decade or so, we're going to be paying billions more than we would have had to if we kept these programs and policies in place. To say nothing of having stable economic policy.

Regardless if you think it's their duty or not. They are in fact ordering the administration to spend money against its will. They have made themselves as responsible for the deficit as is Congress.

Trump has not signed and spending bills as of yet.

Trump has personally spent untold millions on his golf outings - what’s the running tally on that?

What’s the bill for CECOT and those flights?

What’s the cost to taxpayers for the lawyers that have to go to court and try to defend his EOs that aren’t legally or Constitutionally challenged?

How much has DOGE cost so far?

🤷‍♀️

I give a shit about destroying the US government, and still not accomplishing your campaign promises to cut costs- the worst of both worlds.

It really is amazing that people will cheer cutting government services and destroying agencies while still managing to spend MORE money and call themselves fiscal conservatives...

They control congress too, so that's hardly an excuse.

When congress passes a spending bill I am willing to bet they find a way to drive up the deficit given the way they are planning to cut taxes more than they cut spending...

How many millions have we spent for him to play golf 28 times since he took office on 1/20/25?

Golf outings are trivial, one of the reasons we're spending more is because the money we pay to service our debt has gone up considerably because of Trump's tariff policies and general incompetence spooking the bond market.

Way to go, stable genius. This is what happens when you put an outsider "successful businessman" to run the country. He identifies the root of the problem and cuts right to the chase:

"Despite promises to cut spending during the campaign and his first few months in office, President Trump's federal government has spent about $220 billion more in his first 100 days compared to the same time period last year.

In fact, the government is now spending more, day to day, than was spent in nine of the last 10 years. The exception: 2021, when the government was spending trillions to fight the coronavirus pandemic and prevent an economic disaster."

But hey, at least there's no one around anymore to inspect your water for fecal matter- so you should be good, MAGA.

2025 year budget.

Biden's last budget year.

Tucker ****ing Carlson conned the rubes. Trump conning them is easy.

Congress approved this spending last year.

You people are ignorant of the budget process.

None of your questions change anything I have said

Congress typically spends more money then we have. Now judges are insisting upon it. 🤷‍♂️

Judges insist that congress controls the budget? Outrageous.

So are you saying getting rid of the guy who inspects your water for fecal matter has not made a dent in the budget?

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Typical MAGA - blame everyone BUT Trump
Where's the $2T in savings from Mush and his band of racists at DOGE?

All of a sudden you give a shit about spending.

Welcome to the dark side.................even if your motive is nothing but hack team politics.

All of a sudden conservatives don't give a shit about spending.

Let me ask you this: If there's no savings being recognized, what is the upside to all the chaos, court cases and unemployed former fed workers?

Is $45-60million of taxpayer money spent on golf trips over 100 days a trivial amount?

Compared to the extra 500 billion spent on interest directly related to policy decisions yes it's very trivial.

It's a bit like complaining about a mismatched tea set when your house is on fire.

You know what they say: $50M here, $50M there, and pretty soon you're talking about real money.

;)
