Woke is the belief that the state should constantly intervene to correct unequal outcomes between groups, even when doing so means restricting individual liberty, property rights, or freedom of speech.

Their intent is to demonize and shut up schoolteachers, preachers, librarians, historians, musicians, students, websites, business executives and any sensible human who dares speak (and act on) the truth that racism, sexism, poverty, environmental degradation and such are systemic blights in America. These pious censors of reality proclaim that anyone presenting less than a morally pure portrait of our history and society is a traitor whose voice must be suppressed. Indeed, these extremists demand that government act to ban public discussion and awareness of the injustices and prejudices that still shape and disgrace us.

If that were the case, then being "woke" wouldn't be confined to Democrats. Plenty of Republicans who claim to be conservative see the Trump administration as a path to restricting liberals' freedom of speech in order to increase the liberties of conservatives who fear being "canceled" by liberal culture.

No. As de Satan's lawyers admitted, it's being awake to the fact of societal injustice being baked into the system. Awake/aware that's where the "woke!" part comes from.
 
Woke is like indecency. You know it when you see it. At its core it is the shedding of common sense in the interest of identity politics.
 
It’s a trumpy word, intentionally vague. Therefore meaningless.
