DeSantis sending Florida officers to respond to border crisis in Texas and Arizona

I give him credit. An impressive political stunt.

This should help him in his impending 2024 run with Trump supporters.

I think he will be the repub to beat in 2024.

I predict Trump will claim that he can do more good in the private sector in 2023 and will throw his endorsement to Desantis.

Unfortunately this won't solve the problem at the border but that is politics.

You could very well be correct about all of the above.
He seems like he could be a very strong contender and give sippy cup Joe a run for his money.

I gave up on Republicans as an honest partner in governing when John Boehner refused to bring up the immigration bill written by the "Gang of Eight" and passed by the Senate with over 60 votes. They have no interest in solving problems for this country. They're only interested in power for themselves. They are a parasitic disease, not a political party.
I agree all they are out to do is get their people into office and screw the American people they don't care about telling the truth and as I said then they pull this stunt about Harris not going down there when Pence didn't go at all in his first year in office and THEY have said the situation was worse back then and they made it better ,
as I asked them if it was better when Biden and Harris took over why does she have to go in her first year in office when Pence didn't
Have a nice night

Don't quit your day job, your career as a lawyer will be limited...

Tell us, will the state of Texas be setting up checkpoints beyond the border entry points to enforce this travel restriction. How much do you suppose the state will settle for in the first lawsuit?
Read the links and learn, Self censoring is does not serve you well.

Read the links.. Now tell me how you think a state has the power to enforce international travel and immigration... How exactly would Texas implement this?

Or they could have completed the wall and not encouraged foreigners to enter the country illegally. That was an option.
I agree the Republicans would have had the money to build the wall and if needed the Dems would have worked with them to finish it but The Republicans wouldn't work with them on the Birther problem
so now we have more illegals here
and as I said all the Republicans are doing now is taking peoples minds off the fact the wall would have had a large amount of it built and are trying to blame the Dems for everything
The people have to be reminded of the fact that the DEMS were going to fund something like 28 Billion for the wall all the repuks had to do was work with them on the Birther problem
Have a nice night

Good for DeSantis. I hope a lot of other states join in. I'm glad to see states feeling the need to do what the federal government won't. The border is a mess.

Big shoes to fill. In order to obtain Trump’s mantle, he’ll have to start ranting about illegals as rapists, as poisonous snakes, say there are Muslims on the border, suggest shooting them in the legs, and pretend the US has no legal obligations towards asylum seekers. A heavy lift. But I guess that’s the future of the GOP.

Two words. Yeah. "Do you want Trump or chaos, cats and dogs living together, total anarchy!"

Spare us the dumbass fear mongering. The majority of the country does not want anarchy. That's a moronic claim.
Now you've clearly gotten spun up and introduced "anarchy" and "moronic". All this from simple questions about how you think the voting public feels about the current border and crime situations. No problem, it's quite clear you don't want to deliver a civil response to simple questions. I can understand your reluctance. The border and crime are a mess and the voting public knows that.

And Biden/Harris is certainly giving them that opportunity.

Republicans want the laws to be followed and enforced but the Democrats are hoping for a positive response from criminals and their supporters. Given the backing of the entertainment industry, tech Social Media, Big Business and the WEF, it's still a toss-up.
How does denying people their right to apply for asylum, guaranteed under US law and ratified treaties, wanting “the laws to be followed”?

Everybody calm down. I am sure the good Gov, after helping to prevent Central Americans fleeing gangs from seeking protection, will return to Florida an initiate a campaign to prevent Cubans from seeking asylum as well. Consistency is the watchword of politicians after all.

I wonder how the spouses of the law enforcement officers being sent from Florida to Texas feel. And their kids.

You're describing the tit for tat behavior of children. Both parties should act responsibly for the benefit and protection of the American people, not engaging in foolish games.

Given that it was Biden who stopped construction of the wall and opened the borders, who do you think should assume the responsibility?

The people have to be reminded of the fact that the DEMS were going to fund something like 28 Billion for the wall all the repuks had to do was work with them on the Birther problem
Instead the Democrats decided to invite foreigners into the country, defund the police, allow criminals to walk free, and watch violent crimes rise while restricting honest Americans from freedom of movement over some over-hyped epidemic.

I don't know how any sensible person can support this..

who will assume the long term maintenance costs of any wall Texas builds?

These people are just crossing the border and not requesting asylum. Why would Mexicans apply for asylums? Others can apply for asylum in Mexico.

Nobody can apply for asylum for the US while in Mexico...

That can be negotiated when a cognizant president is elected.

LOL.... Yeah, federal law actually prohibits this kind of encumbrance... You DO want to follow the law, correct?

Good for them.CT is alive, well and growing in the US
I hear they are also sending the same people auditing the election.
Yes the one Biden won. Well depends upon who you talk to, Don Trump or State election results. Go figure that one out
They need to stay coordinated in the culture wars

Right. They would have to apply for asylum in Mexico.

There is no safe third country agreement with Mexico, therefore, no requirement under federal law for them to apply there... All that is required, BY LAW, is to arrive at our border.... Not a border checkpoint, OUR BORDER...

Who was denying people the right to apply for asylum?

Let's remember that reasoning in the upcoming elections in DeSantis's life and see how it works out for you.

🤷‍♂️ M'kay. He said he'll run for gubernatorial reelection next year. Thing is, Charlie Crist (currently a US Representative from FL and previously FL Governor and Attorney General) and Nikki Fried (currently FL Commissioner of Agriculture) already have declared they'll seek the Democratic nomination to oppose him. So Ronnie will face stiffer competition this time. (Course, he's tried to stack the deck by screwing with election law.) It's too early to speculate on 2024. That depends on whether Trump runs (I don't think he will) and who the Democrats run (I also don't think Biden will). In any case, I think losing the governorship would make getting the nomination and winning the presidency more difficult. And runnin' ain't winnin'. Trump lost and DeSantis is Trump 2.0.

Who was denying people the right to apply for asylum?

If any Texas law enforcement officer stops someone seeking asylum at the border they will be obstructing federal asylum law.
