Wow!
Despite a judge's ruling on Friday declaring that the Florida governor's ban on mask mandates in schools is unconstitutional, the State Board of Education has forged ahead with its threat to withhold school board members salaries in districts that require the face coverings in classrooms.

Commissioner of Education Richard Corcoran announced that school board members in Alachua and Broward counties will not be getting paychecks from the department of education this month...

Why is Florida so ****ed up?

Good. Let the left defend the court's reputation now. If they want to delegitimize the courts every time they rule for us, then conservatives MUST play hardball, and completely nullify the court's legitimacy every time they rule against us.

So go on leftys, make your argument....tell us why this court should be considered legitimate? I'm waiting!

Mask mandates for elementary school children are the height of stupidity.

Kids aren't greatly and risk from covid. But gawd forbid we don't strike fear, indoctrination, and submission into them early on, otherwise they may grow up to think for themselves, and even worse VOTE other than as planned.

The courts are legitimate because the constitution has not been amended to change that branch of government.

The last president to make this argument, was Andrew Jackson, I believe. That was right before the civil war.

But generally you are correct, the only power a lot of social systems has is legitimacy. If the people in the military woke up and stopped believing in that institution en masse, there's not a lot anyone could do. Alternatively, if people suddenly stopped believing gold was valuable, it wouldn't be.

either the supreme court's power derives from the constitution, or it doesn't. It can't be "whichever makes me feel better about my personal opinions that are NEVER wrong/inaccurate"

either the supreme court's power derives from the constitution, or it doesn't.
It does. Whether people choose to honor the constitution or their own political agendas is another matter though.

I see that you are choosing to turn away from it.

I'm choosing to follow consistency. If the other side is going to delegitimize it, then I see no reason why I can't.

but, should the other side decide that, you know, whatever their disagreements, they should honor the institution as the legitimate power it is, then I will do the same.

And now you need to show how you feel that "the other side" is delegitimizing the courts.

i posted an example of it.
Some random dude complaining on twitter is your example, that's all it takes for you to lose faith in this country's core institutions?

I'm a random dude complaining on the internet.

I never said I personally lost faith. I just don't think I should act with any more or less regard for institutions than the other side. If they're all saying the courts are illegit, maybe it's true, and my approach should be the same (except, from the right, instead of the left).

True. Well then enjoy it, but I will continue to be serious about my country.

I think your central mistake is categorizing things into sides when its just random people spouting off. Generally, political phenomena regarding viewpoints are better understood as heat maps and not boxes.

Florida is fighting to have more Floridians die.

Let that sink in.
