Where are all of the republicans outraged that DeSantis is overstepping his bounds? He doesn't want the federal government telling him what to do but he wants to tell his local school districts what to do and if they don't follow his orders he may withhold their salaries. He's acting just like a trump strongman. Who thinks this kind of stupidity will help him win a national election? I don't. I think this is hurting him severely. America is fed up with this covid virus and folks like him who seem insistent they want to keep spreading it.

School districts and parents are beginning to sue in Florida and Texas. In Texas, school districts are implementing mask mandates against the Governors orders. I am going to make a prediction here. The moronic governors will lose these battles either publicly or in court.

Parents in FL are keeping their kids home. I imagine it's also happening in Texas. No governor has the right to put any child at risk for Covid because of their political ambitions.

DeathSantis has already lost his court battle with a cruise line who will be implementing vaccine mandates. This will accelerate cross country as time goes on.

I also expect to see mandates taking effect as soon as the vaccines are fully approved in a couple of weeks. These anti vaxers can choose between being vaccinated or not being able to work because soon it's going to happen.

So much for the GOP believing government should be handled by the level closest to the people. School Boards are elected locally and, for the most part, funded locally. DeSantis is doing this for his personal political gain and so what if means many of Florida's children end up in the hospital, the ICU or worse yet dead. I think this will backfire on him big time.

This is what is happening in one hospital in Jacksonville, where a child 16 died from Covid last week, but it is being repeated in all pediatric hospitals in Florida.

"In June the hospital had 22 COVID-19 patients admitted: 12 of them were age 11 or younger, nine were ages 12 to 17, Hamilton said. In July there were 94 admissions, 50 of them age 11 or younger, 44 were ages 12 to 17."

Friday, Wolfson had 12 patients with the virus, three of whom were in intensive care.

In my opinion DeSantis' actions are criminal.

He's also trying to muscle the cruise ship industry with his whacko Right Wing ideology.

He's auditioning to be the next Trump, and the cult is so happy to have found a new leader.

That failed like we knew it would. Who is he to tell the cruise lines what they can and can't do. Isn't that a no no in republican politics? Sticking your nose into others business?

I hope he gets the republican nod if he runs which all indications are he will. He can please the crazies but they aren't enough to get him elected nationally. Most of america already rejected trump why would they vote for a trump imitator?

DeSantis is planning his 2024 run, so he does the thing a certain voter block he hopes for would like.

some kids will die of COVID that they picked up at school in Florida .

not sure how DeSantis escapes when that happens.

If he is supposed to be such a smart guy you would think he would have noticed that following the Trump Covid playbook didn't work out so well for Trump!

A 16 year old died in Jacksonville last week at this pediatric hospital. Take a look at the difference in pediatric cases from June and July in just one pediatric hospital. DeSantis is going to wear this.

"In June the hospital had 22 COVID-19 patients admitted: 12 of them were age 11 or younger, nine were ages 12 to 17, Hamilton said. In July there were 94 admissions, 50 of them age 11 or younger, 44 were ages 12 to 17."

Wait... wait... wait just a minute. Are you saying right-wingers are hypocritical on something?

multiple companies have already started firing employees for not being vaccinated. CNN, Tyson foods, United Airlines, the NFL, multiple hospitals, Cisco, Facebook, Frontier Airlines, Google, Tyson Foods, Walgreens, Walt Disney, Corporate and managers of Walmart and the Washington Post.

DeSantis is a classic example of someone who's power has gone right to his head.

He literally wants to tell everyone what to do, including aspects of travel - ports - and regulations handled at the Federal level all the way down to telling local school districts what to do.

Then complains about Biden's response.

It is no wonder why the far right authoritarian Trump loving conspiracy theory subscribing lunatics support DeSantis.

I just watched a documentary that made the point when people feel threatened they tend to lean towards an authoritarian figure. Now does that describe the average trump supporter or what?

He just rrequested hundreds .more ventilators...

This guy and abbot are just unbelievable!!!

The only upside to their ignorance is they are killing off their supporters by the thousand's every day...

As stated by several others, it's obvious Desantis is pandering to Trump style voters. But the strategy seems doomed to failure.
If Trump couldn't win with 100% of his base behind him, how does Desantis expect to win with let's say 90% of Trump's base voting for him? And his epic mishandling of Covid sure isn't going to pull anyone from the left or even the independents to his side.

Certain people are drawn to authoritative people who seem to be able to take charge of a situation. DeSantis is trying to portray that authoritative figure but he is so dumb he’s picking the wrong issues.

So its anti-freedom and anti-Constitutional to tell someone they have to wear a mask, but legal to require the opposite?
