It appears Alan Dershowitz feels there are some major problems with the US justice system. Yep, being on the wrong side of the stick would have a tendency to make you feel that way. But there is no doubt, he has profited greatly from it.
So, are are you implying that because Dershowitz worked in the legal field and has been quite successful at it, that his opinion is not legitimate?
Or what is the direction that you intended for the thread?
I'll answer the question, but let me ask you first. What do you think?
I don't dictate directions lizzie.
What do I think about what? Your opinion, or Dershowitz? What I was asking was what you want the discussion to revolve around. I can't tell from your op.

He just hates Alan Dershowitz with a passion usually reserved for elected officials.

Okay, now, what it appears is that it's a Jewish issue with you, rather than one of law. That's what I was thinking, but it took awhile to really be apparent.
I have never been a huge fan of Dershowitz, but in this case, I hope that evidence is presented which shows he is not guilty of what is being accused. In spite of my ideological differences with the man, I've never been one who believed him to be of poor character. Time will tell us, I suppose.

Dershowitz Decries ‘Kafkaesque World of American Justice’ - Law Blog - WSJ
Have you read The Trial? I'd say its portrayal of being caught up in the justice system, rightly or wrongly, is pretty accurate.
No I have not read it. But as black male, I agree, there are major problems with the justice system. Black folks have been saying that for years. It is interesting to note that Mr Dershowitz is saying the same thing, though possibly for different reasons.
You should read it. It's not tedious in the least and is thoroughly cutting.
Dershowitz is an anti-gunner, but he hates Moveon.org, so its hard to know whether to hate him, or not.
Whether or not he is guilty is in no way a Jewish issue. But, as I have said before, the fact that he is a prominent Jewish person who has spoken out on Jewish issues means that it is of interest if Jews will support him, SIMPLY because he is Jewish, and whether or not the fact that he is Jewish will influence the court of public opinion in his case.
I used to be a big Dershowitz fan. Why is it that you did not care for him?
I hope the truth prevails, whatever that is.
It doesn't matter if his name was Smith. He's had some pretty serious accusations leveled against him. The man is now decrying it to be a "drive by shooting" but after reading the testimonies and affidavits of those taken in Epstein's trial the man has no right to open his mouth. Because when he was part of the defense for Epstein he engaged in trying to discredit every under aged girl who had co-operated with the police (over 40 in total) and did his best to destroy/trash their reputations to discredit them. What goes around comes around. My grandmother use to say "What goes over the Devil's back, comes back round his belly."
He is the last person who should be talking about "loopholes" in the law after the sweet deal Epstein received with the mountain of evidence against him thanks to Dershowitz in part. To think that bastard (Epstein) only served less than 15 months in jail while allowed to leave the jail for a number of hours per day to attend to his business is unbelievable.
Yes, this time may justice be served.
He does destroy people. Of this there is no doubt. He was left behind him a bloody trail.
But let's see what happens. If he is indeed innocent, I honestly hope he is vindicated. But like I said before, someone would have to be out of their mind to do this, if they are not telling the truth. That would simply be suicidal.
The lawsuit against the government has been in the works with Doe #1 and #2 for sometime. It was brought about due to public outrage over the verdict. It wasn't till a newspaper in Palm Beach after over two years of litigation were able to get the sweet deal Epstein received unsealed that revealed things Epstein and his "friends" were hoping would never come to light. Doe's #3 and #4 have since requested to join the lawsuit. Before it gets to the courts there could be a #5, #6, #7. All giving evidence pertaining to different illegal activities. It is my understanding there are lots of pictures that were snapped of Epstein's "prestigious" guests with the under aged girls in their midst. It was revealed in the records from the Palm Beach Police department that hidden cameras were placed throughout Epstein's mansion at Palm Beach. His walls were covered with nude photos of under aged girls. Many of the same girls who gave sworn affidavits to the police of the activities that went on not only at the Palm Beach location but his, private island in the Caribbean, his ranch in New Mexico, his apartment in NY, his apartment in Paris, and on his private 757 that jetted his "friends" all over the world. So I don't think Doe #3 is being "suicidal" she is now the mother of three in her thirties and happily married. Her counsel is a former federal judge, prosecutor and law professor. I doubt very much he would be putting his name on the line like this unless he had undeniable evidence. Stay tuned......
I think you have made a point here. Anyone who has any power of substance in this country knows who Dershowitz is and how he operates. I know that judge cannot be that big of a fool to do something like this and not have substantial backup. It would be very, very, foolish.
Yes indeed it would be foolish. Who in their right mind with such accomplishments behind him would be willing to go after someone like Dershowitz, powerful in his own right. Harvard law professor etc. if he didn't have the goods to bag him?
Yeah. If I recall right Dershowitz said one of us will not be standing after this!
Let's see what happens.
The thing is this, it's not only Dershowitz involved. It's Prince Andrew!!! Man, this is big time!!!!
I don't know of a legal case of this magnitude. Has there ever been one of this magnitude in the US?
It goes way past Prince Andrew. The names on the list of "friends" associated with Epstein include a former Senate Majority leader. Would that be Daschle, Frist, Dole ??? There is a billionaire Republican donor. Heads of state from a number of countries, including President Clinton. There are numerous scientists that have receive the Pulitzer Prize award. Big name stars in Hollywood, and wealthy socialites galore. That is why the plea Epstein received by the state of Florida and rubber stamped by our federal government was sealed to protect his "friends".
The owner was Jeffrey Epstein, 53, an intensely private New York money manager with several billionaire clients. Months earlier, the stepmother of a 14-year-old girl told the Palm Beach police that a wealthy older man, whom the girl later identified as Mr. Epstein, might have had inappropriate sexual contact with her.
In sworn statements to the police, the 14-year-old and other teenage girls said a friend had arranged for them to visit Mr. Epstein’s home and give him massages, usually in their underwear, in exchange for cash.
Most of the girls, according to the police, said Mr. Epstein had masturbated during the massages, and a few said he had penetrated them with his fingers or penis. They identified him in photos and accurately described the inside of his home. Some recalled that his employees had fed them snacks or rented them cars.
Mr. Epstein pleaded not guilty in August to the crime he was ultimately charged with, soliciting prostitution. But at a time when prosecutors around the nation have become increasingly severe in dealing with people accused of sex offenses, the case has raised questions about whether Mr. Epstein’s prominence won him preferential treatment.
By the account of the police, they found probable cause to charge Mr. Epstein with much more serious offenses: one count of lewd and lascivious molestation and four counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
But instead of proceeding with such charges on his own, the Palm Beach County state attorney took the rare step of presenting a broad range of possible charges to a grand jury, which indicted Mr. Epstein in July on the lesser count. In Florida, prosecutors usually refer only capital cases to grand juries.
Even before the indictment, the Palm Beach police chief, Michael Reiter, had accused prosecutors of giving Mr. Epstein special treatment and asked the state attorney, Barry E. Krischer, to remove himself from the case.
In an editorial, The Palm Beach Post attacked Mr. Krischer, a Democrat whose post is elective, saying the public had been left “to wonder whether the system tilted in favor of a wealthy, well-connected alleged perpetrator and against very young girls who are alleged victims of sex crimes.”
