but and additional 7.4 million people voted for someone else, too. So nearly 10 million more citizens of this country wanted someone else beside Der Dumbpster to be their leader. Let's recall what happened the last time the EC chose the president instead of the people: The Bush Catastrophe: a failed war with resulting massively increased instability of the Middle East and the second worst economic disaster in our entire history. Der Dumbpster and his pack of racist, bigoted thugs makes Bush/Cheney look like toddlers when it comes to horrible policies and rhetoric. It's just a marvel why some people are determined to repeat failure after failure with these scumbags.

You have yet to see a single Trump policy enacted. I suggest you load up on comfort food, a blankie, a few stuffed animals, and hours and hours of cartoons - or maybe some old Hillary stump speeches - they require a willing suspension of belief in reality too. January 20th is coming.

Your ability to confuse reality and fantasy has always been the one thing you excel at. Obama won BOTH the popular and electoral votes by clear majorities and super majorities, respectively. You're wishful thinking that the popular vote is "imaginary" just shows how much this really bothers you and, of course, your boy, Der Dumbpster. He's actually throwing shade on the whole election now because of it--claiming that the popular vote must have been rigged. If that was rigged, then it must follow that his EC vote lead must be as well. He can't himself from being a whiny-ass-titty-baby and there you are right behind him.

So close to 6 million voted Johnson or Stein, but you cannot just add that to clinton's numbers and say "this many people didn't want trump" because the near 6 million who voted third party also didn't want Clinton.

In the end, Clinton lost. She got a lot of votes from NYC and LA, but there's more to America than its major cities, and Clinton couldn't play to any of that, even against a candidate as horrid as Trump. So she lost. Put up a better candidate next time, do a better job next time.

The "national popular vote" IS imaginary...and it has NEVER elected a President of the US. Ever. Our President has ALWAYS been selected by the Electoral College or another provision included in the Constitution. Your imaginary national popular vote is not included in the Constitution.

Right. We live under the tyranny of the EC which allows a minority of the voters of this country to put a turd-pile into the highest office of the land, just as it did in 2000 and we all know (even if people like you are still denying it) where that ended up.

It's not that they "matter less", it's just that America is not just its cities. The President represents the Republic as a whole, which is why, in part, we have the EC. The other reason we have the EC is to protect against popularism.

And so Hillary won the popular vote, but she couldn't capture the Republic. So she lost. And even if 7,317,481 voters voted "other", they didn't vote for Clinton, so those 7,317,481 are no endorsement of Clinton.

Do a better job next time if you want a different outcome.

A plurality of votes within a state gets a POTUS candidate that state's EC votes - no bonus prize exists for getting a super duper plurality or a large majority within that state. The EC system may or may not appeal to you but it is the system until 38 states agree to amend the constitution and adopt another.
