there is plenty of room for debate on what constitutes a human life in early stages of pregnancy. But only a troglydite would argure that it's NOT a human life in the late stages.

CARDIN: Well, we support Roe v. Wade. We thought that was established law. It was established law for almost 50 years. The Supreme Court decision was a radical decision that reversed the rights of women to make their own health-care decisions. So we support Roe v. Wade, we support the right of women to be able to make their own decisions about their reproductive rights, and it shouldn’t be subservient to what state legislatures are doing.

BREAM: But what about the states where it’s actually legal up until the due date? Is that something Democrats support?

CARDIN: We support the right of women to make their own decisions. This is a personal decision made by women with the advice of their doctors and their family, and we don’t think we should try to tell women when they can make those decisions.

BREAM: Is there a cut-off for you before that point?

CARDIN: No, to me, it’s a reproductive — it’s a health-care
The position explicitly articulated by Cardin is shared by every Democrat but one in the Senate and one in the House who back the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA).

Of course when you pander for votes, principles go out the window, not that many DEms have them in the first place. The ends justify the means has always been the calling card of Des,
The end being getting those offices!

Why is it so hard for the right wing to understand that their religion is not the law? Why can they not seem to understand that medical decisions made by other people are none of their business?

And Republicans openly support robbing women of the basic human right to be the final arbiter of what goes into or comes out of their own bodies.

See how that works?

The common misconception seems to be that women would carry a healthy pregnancy to almost full term and then, on a whim, change their mind.
yea- never happens, right?

Respectfully, I am afraid your "Republicans openly support robbing women of the basic human right to be the final arbiter of what goes into or comes out of their own bodies" is weak and mealy-mouthed compared to KLATTU's "Dems support murder."

Perhaps if you countered the KLATTU claim that "Dems support murder" by saying that also means "women support murder" since women are the final arbiters and have been performing abortions forever -- long, long before lib-progs even walked the Earth. That would put KLATTU in the unenviable position of either agreeing that women support murder, or he could argue that women don't support murder which would immediately undercut his assertion that lib-progs support murder.

I don't know if it will win the argument, but it would be a good return and put the ball in KLATTU's court so to speak.

Naturally, I will be pulling for KLATTU on account of the MAGA, and I figure it would be a good exercise for him. A perfect time for him to practice his mental gymnastics.

MAGA.

John McCormack is a lying scumbag. NOTHING he says is to be believed. His use of the term "abortionist", which is a very inaccurate term used by reich-wing fascists, is in play here. This one word speaks volumes as to Mr. McCormack's motive.

He is a lying POS and nothing he posts can taken seriously.

Murder is a legal term. It is the unlawful taking of a life.

Subsequently, any legally performed abortions can not by definition be murder.

Who is more important to you, the mother or the unborn? First answer that question?

The common misconception seems to be that there isn't a contingent of Democrat voters who don't support later term / moments after birth abortions.

Along with Democratic senator Ben Cardin of Maryland (cited in the OP), from academia we have these so-called bioethicists purporting the same thing:

Just when you thought the religious right couldn’t get any crazier, with its personhood amendments and its attacks on contraception, here comes the academic left with an even crazier idea: after-birth abortion.
No, I didn’t make this up. “Partial-birth abortion” is a term invented by pro-lifers. But “after-birth abortion” is a term invented by two philosophers, Alberto Giubilini and Francesca Minerva. In the Journal of Medical Ethics, they propose:
[W]hen circumstances occur after birth such that they would have justified abortion, what we call after-birth abortion should be permissible. … [W]e propose to call this practice ‘after-birth abortion’, rather than ‘infanticide,’ to emphasize that the moral status of the individual killed is comparable with that of a fetus … rather than to that of a child. Therefore, we claim that killing a newborn could be ethically permissible in all the circumstances where abortion would be. Such circumstances include cases where the newborn has the potential to have an (at least) acceptable life, but the well-being of the family is at risk.

Struggling to find any ethics here worth promoting.

Since the time of birth is immaterial (at least according to these people), when will it be bumped up to 2 years or 4 years of age? Or even more? After all, it's just a number, right?

To call Democrats killers on this issue is simply biased BS. First of all, we are talking about a "definition" of the word life.

Here is the accepted and legal definition of life:

What is the exact definition of life?
Life is defined as any system capable of performing functions such as eating, metabolizing, excreting, breathing, moving, growing, reproducing, and responding to external stimuli. A fetus is not breathing until it leaves the womb of the mother. As such, your calling a person troglodyte suggests that you are the one that is a troglodyte because your definition goes against the established definition on life.

OP's such as this one are nothing but biased BS in favor of what you believe and against the truth. These types of OP's are not worth even reading or paying attention to.

A 35 week old is not a life . Got it. I’m sure the millions who are actually born at that age every year would disagree.

They're not "35 weeks old" when they are born. We determine age at birth. Months of gestation only gives us info about what level of development the now born baby may be at once birth has occurred.

So then we should condemn all abortions because some very few on the left decided to support euthanizing babies who are a burden despite other options being clearly available?

Then maybe we should consider that the right really are trying to take reproductive rights from all women since some on the right absolutely want to do that.

Wow you sure showed me!

And of course, there is more to the story.

If he thinks it’s safer for them to have an abortion than to carry and deliver the baby, he’ll take the case—usually up until around 32 weeks, with some rare later exceptions, because of the increased risk of hemorrhage and other life-threatening conditions beyond that point.

Ignoring the extremists on both ends of the spectrum, the reasonable middle has pretty much settled around a 14 week to 20 week restriction.
If you look at Europe, which is constantly trotted out as the example to emulate, this is the range they've also settled into.

From my view, it's a reasonable restriction, and some State legislators need to find their way to that position as well.

Sure, that's going to piss off the extremists on both ends of the spectrum, but they are the few, but just happen to be the loudest and the most covered in the media, I don't think that it represents a strength in numbers as much as some would imagine.

yea- never happens, right?

He states that the latest he normally performs an abortion is at 32 weeks. There are very rare exceptions, almost certainly for life of mother going through further pregnancy w/ risk rather than your suggestion that it was some other reason.

Europe is lied about by pro-birthers often. Many European countries have exceptions for severe fetal problems, life/ health of mother (not just life) and even in some places financial situation of mother. They also pay for abortions in many of those countries. So those are seriously different factors.

Most women were pretty much fine with Roe/Casey being in place. It wasn't leftwing extremists pushing to change anything. It was the right, and they have put a lot of women in danger, taken away our rights.

No. This is condoning murder:

Who is more important to you, the mother or the unborn? First answer that question?

Who

1 : what or which person or persons

2 : the person or persons that : whoever

SO...which person is more important? Can you think of another category of life and death where you would even suggest such a question or that there is a preferable option?
