Republicans used to paint democrats as being socialists. Now Democrats are admitting they are fine with being socialists. I don't personally believe the majority of Americans want socialism.

When y'all push the pendulum this far to the right, don't be surprised when some people want it to swing back to the left.

Canada is Socilalist.
Australia too.
Also Germany.
How about South Korea? Japan?
Mexico.
Sweden, Denmark, even the U.K.
Imagine THAT, the whole world is Socialist except the U.S.

I know I know, when dealing with simple-minded folks it is no use pointing out to them that the whole world is Socialist, to the simple-minded.

We can just roll our eyes and consider how uninformed some people about the rest of the world and how childish their attempts to paint a picture that only paints a picture of themselves.

Bet the simple-minded won't understand what I meant by that last line.

LOL. What do you think happened last November? You pushed the pendulum too far to the left and your solution has been to push it even further to the left.

Most americans have been subjected to generations of misinformation and scare mongering about socialism to the point now where most americans have no idea what socialism is. For the most part all americans have ever had is propaganda that just thinks up really stupid ways of doing socialism and then demanding that that is the only way it can be done.
Plus the fact that america does not really have a left wing political party. The republicans are now mostly extreme right and care only about the wealthy and the democrats are a moderate right party and care only about the middle class. No one in your country stands up politically for the poor or socialist ideals.

It depends on how you define socialist.
The definition by Republicans is not the same as the definition most people use.

Wanting healthcare that doesn't bankrupt you is not socialism.

Democratic Socialism is appealing to many democrats. Seems a better choice than the very popular Christian Nationalism, but that's just me

The Dems would be center or right wing in the UK and Republicans would be off the scale.

The last time NYC had a socialist mayor they loved him so much they named an airport after him.

After decades of McCarthyism, nobody finds Republican wailing about “socialism” meaningful

Democrats have always been socialists. BTW, so have republicans. Republicans just don’t want to admit it

Last November Biden and the democrats ran a terrible campaign. Nothing to do with moving left.

Well, I travel on the socialist interstate, have my mail delivered by the socialist post office, am insured by socialist Medicare, get benefits far in excess of my contributions through Social-ist Security, take drugs approved by the socialist FDA, am protected by socialist fire and police departments, borrow books for free from the local socialist library.

Socialist remains an epithet tossed around by the right, but what’s not to like?

I prefer a mixed economy and socialist answers need to be part of that mix, alongside freer market responses in some industries, or highly regulated market answers depending on the situation problem.

I leave nothing off the table because of the label attached.

Harris tried to appeal to Republicans.

That failed.

This “socialism” that is so derided is basically a call to return to FDR style liberal consensus that has been eroding since Reagan.

Republicans like social spending that comes top down instead of bottom up.

Been that way since like the 1890’s.

As I've gotten older my views have become more socialistic. And it's not because I want everything to be publicly owned. But I see the writing on the wall for automation and AI. And the question is should these advances in technology benefit all of us or only the billionaires?

I recently asked my psychiatrist how many years until he thought until his job would get replaced by an AI chatbot. And he told me approximately 10 years. And that he's already getting ready for it.

The title of this thread is ludicrous. This isn't.

"The radicals on the left are the problem, and they're vicious and they're horrible and they're politically savvy, although they want men and women sports, they want transgender for everyone, they want open borders." Trump

Trump is committing murder. He admits it!

Will America survive this Presidency?

Now Trump wants to control communication. A well-known talk show host expressed an opinion. Trump had his show cancelled.

NBC reports, "Disney's ABC said Wednesday it is pulling "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" off air "indefinitely" following the host's comments Monday about the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

"Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot last week while hosting an event at Utah Valley University.

"During his monologue on Monday night, Kimmel raised the possibility that Tyler Robinson, the suspect in the killing, might have been a pro-Trump Republican."
