The is a really good write-up on the self reflection the Democrats should be having right now.

And they should be ashamed for their actions

Key takeaway for me.

"Breaking democratic norms. Democrats decided to use taxes from plumbers and welders to forgive college loans for lawyers and grad students in grievance studies. When the Supreme Court struck Mr. Biden’s effort down as an abuse of power, he tried again and taunted the Court to stop him."

If Democrats want some sage counsel on how to recover from their electoral drubbing on Tuesday, we suggest they recall that classic relationship breakup line from Seinfeld’s George Costanza: “It’s not you; it’s me.”

The temptation after a defeat this humiliating is to hunt for scapegoats—fading Joe Biden, untutored Kamala Harris, Russian disinformation, benighted and racist voters. They’d be wiser to look in the mirror.

The defeat was less a resounding endorsement of Mr. Trump than a repudiation of progressive governance. America rejected the consequences of left-wing policies. Democrats lost ground from 2020 across many demographic groups, according to the exit polls. Even women moved percentage points closer to Mr. Trump. How could Democrats possibly lose like this to a man they think is Hitler? Allow us to offer a list for liberal reflection:

The failure of Bidenomics. Democrats once understood that private business drives growth and higher incomes. Sometime in the 21st century, they came to believe that government spending creates wealth—via the “Keynesian multiplier” and other nostrums.

Yeah, all of that is BS.

Stepping back, sure... maybe transgender "issue" or inflation issue or "EV mandate" or loan forgiveness or some other issue ads played a role. And some of these I disagree with myself. But none of it matters IMO. No matter what, Trump MAGAts would find something to make an issue of so as to overlook Trump trying to steal an election or looking for bribes or grifting or 100s of other scandals surrounding this fraudster.

And the "masses" would just get brainwashed by the onslaught within their bubbles to support the dictator-wannabe by whatever "issue" they'd be served with faux outrage.

So says @Slavister, posting from within his bubble.

I suppose. But I can talk about all these issues from my bubble, whereas your bubble quietly disappears into the night or starts mumbling about conspiracy theories that had been long debunked when we bring up him trying to steal an election or looking to bribe Ukraine and other governments and businesses and many other of his scandals.

Ever heard of a run on sentence?

Thanks for the example. :giggle:

Yep; and similarly, thanks for the example of "disappearing into the night" in what I was talking about. :)

Yes, that was a big part on their historic loss. Ignoring the Judicial Branch of our federal government to buy votes. If this doesn't shout corruption, I don't know what else would. Hating the 3rd Branch is NOT protecting democracy......methinks people are not that stupid and saw right through the idiocy.

Forgiving these loans gives more people the opportunity to buy homes in which plumbers do their work.

Seems like a win-win.

"Trump MAGAs" aren't the reason your side lost the election. You lost the middle and, most notably, the working class.

The left is suppose to be the party of education and intellect but they have trouble raking responsibility for their own mistake and making the necessary steps of of preventing them in the future. Let me list them in general terms:
1. The American people are far more capable & intelligent than you think.
2. When you repeat and listen to your own lies often enough you start believe them yourself.
3. Others needs to become a better version of themselves, not a carbon copy of me.
4. Honestly believe in the judgement & abilities of others and hold them accountable for their own actions.
5. Government institutions such as the justice system serve a real purpose and are NOT tools for you own political agenda.
6. Respect the laws of this country and apply them uniformity to everyone.

I could go on forever but I'll quit now.

There is plenty of truth to that opinion piece, I have my doubts on what solid Harris / Democratic supports would do with that other than lash out.

Huh? Sure. And we lost it to "Trump MAGA". If there was a point in what you said, I don't know what it was.

The point is you were never going to get the Trump MAGA vote, just as Biden didn't in 2020. Biden won because he won the middle. Trump won this year for the same reason.

Meaningless cliche.

2. When you repeat and listen to your own lies often enough you start believe them yourself.

Good. Some self reflection from a Trump world at work!
3. Others needs to become a better version of themselves, not a carbon copy of me.
4. Honestly believe in the judgement & abilities of others and hold them accountable for their own actions.
Is there a point somewhere there?

5. Government institutions such as the justice system serve a real purpose and are NOT tools for you own political agenda.

You are about to find out what Trump thinks of that... since you clearly missed it before. Then again, it will be wrapped in some nonsense that will "excuse" it for you.

6. Respect the laws of this country and apply them uniformity to everyone.

Say the guy supporting Trump who escaped the laws being uniformly applied to him...

🤷‍♀️

Voters get what they ask for.

The working class has consistently voted against their own best interests.

Nothing new about it.

I wish them well in their hope that maybe this time, the outcome will be different 😂

I'm pretty sure the working class doesn't care what you think is in their best interest.

People without college degrees don't own homes?

Explain then how "Voted against their best interest" is not telling them how voting opposite was in their best interest.
Guess they’ll get to find out for themselves 🤷‍♀️

Not my problem. I’m not working class.

They feeel the same about you.
I sleep in a CA king sized bed with high quality pillows and sheets at one of my numerous houses. Be it my primary home or my now 3 shore houses.

They’re the ones complaining about the price of groceries 😂 Not me.

It seems you live a blessed life, I'm happy for you. For some their best interests lie in other than material things.
