Such woke measures as letting the school decide whether a child should change his/her sex is beyond insane.

Just imagine a young man who has his penis removed, but then decides later on that she made a mistake in becoming a female.

Its not quite as dramatic as townhall would have you believe. The goal of the program is to unite parents and kids who do not feel safe wit their parents. In other words, "its for the kids."

"Minors seeking gender-affirming care in Washington will be protected from the intervention of estranged parents under a measure Gov. Jay Inslee signed into law Tuesday. Existing Washington law generally requires licensed shelters and host homes to notify parents within 72 hours when a minor comes into their care. Under the new law, facilities can instead contact the state Department of Children, Youth and Families, which could then attempt to reunify the family if feasible. Youths will also be allowed to stay at host homes — private, volunteer homes that temporarily house young people without parental permission.

The bill does not address custody and would not result in the state taking children away from their homes and parents. The Washington legislation requires the state Department of Children, Youth and Families to make a “good faith attempt” to notify parents after they are contacted by shelters or host homes and offer services designed to “resolve the conflict and accomplish a reunification of the family,” according to the bill text. Family reunification efforts would be pursued when possible, according to Washington state Sen. Marko Liias, a Democrat who was the bill’s primary sponsor.

“If a young person is totally estranged from their parents, has no meaningful relationship, we need someone to care for that child,” Inslee said at a news conference last month." (emphasis mine)

I want zero medical transitions for anyone under the age of 18, because as this law makes clear, trans activists are not serious about informed consent. At least before they were offering the fig leaf of parents consenting on behalf of minors who can't consent, and now they drop that the moment it becomes inconvenient.

I didn't read the entire bill, just the article and what I skimmed in the actual bill. So my apologies if I have misunderstood its implications. But this is in the first section of the bill:

services as defined in RCW 74.09.875.

It sure sounds like it includes medical transition. But IANAL so it's possible I misunderstood it.
