FACT: The US Coast Guard is not being paid 100% singularly because of Democrats in Congress. There now is exactly NO other reason.

So it's all or nothing for the Democrats. Dont complaian about getting nothing then. You made your choice, live with it.

Why do the coast guard deserve to not be funded just because some others arnt funded is your answer?
Why are coast guard members the only ones that deserve to get paid?
Seriously, no one except for people that already agree with you buy in to this BS. The government is shutdown because the president won't agree to a funding bill that was passed unanimously through the senate.
End of story.
Fair point, he refused to sign which is more or less the same thing. It gets us to the same place. No point haggling over terminology: they offered him a bill which they agreed on and he said no, like he promised. It's on him.
Right back at you, I didnt think I could have any less respect for the anti-trmpers. You all have hit a new low.You act as though it's just ****ing absurd to think that every federal employee that goes in and puts in their 40 hour weeks should get paid for that work.
I didn't think I could possibly have less respect for Trump supporters but this shutdown has shown me that they weren't at the bottom of the barrel, merely scraping next to it. There's always alittle bit lower they could go.
No it isn't a veto is required when a bill has been approved by both the house and the senate and the bill makes it to the presidents desk to sign.
if a bill never made it to his desk then he can't veto it.
you people seriously do not know how our government works.
So he said he'd veto it and they didn't send it to his desk. Both houses passed it. Same thing but for the pen stroke. No point nitpicking over terminology: so veto isn't 'officially' the word but the result is the same. Either way, Congress had a deal and the president wouldn't ratify.
This is not some arcane mystical constitutional process that people who don't support trump "can't understand". We all see what he did.
there is correct terms and not correct terms.
if there wasn't an actual veto then he didn't veto anything and even if he did the house and senate could have probably overcome a veto.
now that we have taken away your meme.
why are you not upset that schumer continues to filibuster bills that will get people paid?
Look the president said he won't sign a bill that doesn't have what he wants. His word is as good as his signature. Whether he vetoes on paper or not, it's his baby.
As for Schumer, it would be nice if he'd made an exception for the coast guard; would have been nice if Trump made that exception himself when he promised to shut the govt down. Would have been nice if he'd never shut the govt down in the first place, but as he said, he proudly did so. As it stands Schumer is holding out for the whole govt to reopen not just service by service and that's a good enough reason to hold out IMO.
Can't wrap this in the flag and cry national security to get an exception now: Trump should have thought of that before he shut the govt down. We should all be upset that he and the GOP won't reopen it and send everyone back to work, not just dudes with guns and boats because, 'Murca: everyone.
Democrats get control of the House of Representatives and immediately shut down the government - announcing they intend to keep the government shut down forever figuring this will harm President Trump by harming everyone. It doesn't get more amoral and evil than that.
HE DOESN'T HAVE A BILL TO VETO how hard is this to understand?
i mean this isn't rocket science.
Schumer keeps filibustering bills that will fund the government and get people paid.
it is schumer not trump that is causing the issue here and only blind partisan hacks can't see it.
Why does the coast guard deserve to be funded and not the others? Trump is trying to salvage the veteran vote with that move.
In the Senate a bill was put forth to pay the Coast Guard so they don't miss their paychecks, nothing in there was about a border wall, it was a clean bill to pay the coast guard, it could have been signed today by president Trump but Senator Chuck Schumer objected to the bill. So the Democrats want to keep people from getting their paychecks now, what happened to want these people paid? Now watch all the lefties try and say its Trumps fault.
Except if any member of the Coast Guard gets captured. He doesn't like people who are captured. Neither does his fan base. They hate POWs.
Your question sounded rhetorical, why do the coast guard deserve to get paid? seriously? Because they are a branch of our military, because they provide our country with a great service. Or do you feel like they DON'T deserve to get paid.
Wait, there was a bill, HR 695. McConnell, by stonewalling, is just doing Trump's bidding because he knows the president won't sign. Result is the same: Trump wanted, called for and owns this shutdown.
And it is not only blind partisan hacks: only 7% of the country supports shutting down the govt to get the wall funding.
Trump, who demanded, got and proudly continues the shutdown, and his mouthpiece McConnell are in the minority.
Very simple. Trump and Republicans are getting scared, and they realize that they're taking a ton of heat by letting a branch of the very military that's supposedly helping to protect them from immigrants suffer. They want to pay them and only them to appease their base so they will allow a continued shut down to hurt people they think their base is less concerned about. We see this every time there's a shutdown. After a short time, Republicans want to make sure the Military gets paid while continuing to screw over everybody else they don't care about.
Democrats know better. Either you open up the whole government or you open up none.

All the Government employees deserve to get paid. Why single out only one group?
Because they are a military branch and cannot just get a different job or apply for unemployment.
I DO think the Coast Guard is different and I would support funding them separately. Why? Because unlike rest of the federal employees, members of the Coast Guard are military, subject to the UCMJ, and therefore do not have the same freedoms as civilian employees. If a Coastie gets fed up and quits without permission that is called “desertion” and he or she can be court martialed and imprisoned. Technically they could be executed, but that doesn’t happen anymore.
I would argue that people who are forbidden by law from quitting should receive a bit more consideration.
