At a Dearborn City Council meeting last week, Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud told local resident Edward "Ted" Barham, a Christian, that he was "not welcome" in the city after Barham raised concerns about new street signs honoring Arab American News publisher Osama Siblani.
FOX 2 Detroit reported that the signs honoring Siblani were placed at intersections on Warren Avenue by Wayne County, not the City of Dearborn. But the mayor escalated the debate, telling Barham, "Although you live here, you are not welcome here."
The Dearborn situation has been escalating for a while. This is just an example of not being careful of who you allow into your country and who you elect into office.Dearborn mayor tells Christian 'you are not welcome here' at meeting | Fox News

So here’s the mayor of Dearborn, Michigan calling one of his citizens an “Islamophobe” because he questioned naming a street after a man who’s made what appear to be statements inciting terrorism (he says they were taken out of context), and that he’s not welcome in his own city. Unreal.
****ing hilarious watching a guy who thinks Syghman Rhee—- a corrupt tyrant whose political ideology was directly inspired by Nazi Germany—- was a good ruler try and whine about Dearborn.Dearborn mayor tells Christian 'you are not welcome here' at meeting | Fox News

Gee, it’s almost like Israel invading Lebanon to try and set up a puppet state, carving off a chunk of land to colonize, pissed off the Lebanese. Who could have guessed that?Mr. Mayor is the son of Lebanese Shia Muslim immigrants, about 93% of whom support Hezbollah, according to a 2024 poll conducted by the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. So, clearly, he’s prime marginalized community Democratic material.
How much support does Hezbollah have in Lebanon?

Really stupid and dishonest post.
93% of Muslim immigrants in America do not support Hezbollah. Your own reference doesn’t support your idiotic lie.
Unless I'm misreading the source, it's 93% of LEBANESE CITIZENS, not immigrants, that have a positive view of Hezbollah.
Yet the popularity of Hezbollah among Lebanese citizens remains "sharply divided across sectarian lines", according to polling carried out earlier this year by The Washington Institute think tank. Whereas 93% of Shias expressed a positive view of Hezbollah, with 89% saying they have a "very positive" opinion, only 34% of Sunnis and 29% of Christians said the same.
Perhaps he is confusedly (or intentionally dishonestly) assuming that Lebanese immigrants to the US conformed 100% to that poll of Lebanese citizens. Which would be dumb because chances are that people who immigrated here from Lebanon did so because they did not like how shit was going down in Lebanon
You think that mayor speaks for all Democrats?
He comments fit right in with the new, tolerant Democratic Party.
You didn't answer my question.
And considering recent events, you have no room to gripe about intolerance from the Democrats.
These poor Arab fools in Dearborn voted mostly for Trump, LOL.

Hmm. When Kim Ku criticized Rhee’s regime, he was promptly assassinated by a South Korean officer. His comments fit right in with the new, tolerant Democratic Party.
Yeah. The First Amendment is dead letter. I am not going to get roused by a Muslim mayor telling some Christian Karen to **** off.

Do I think Mayor Hammoud speaks for all Democrats? No. But many “tolerant” Democrats, who brand someone a bigot or a fascist if they happen to disagree with them? Yeah. I mean, obviously he got enough votes to be elected to the state legislature and mayor of a medium-sized city in Michigan.
Hammoud speaks for a tiny fraction of the left.
