Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is calling on the Western allies to formalize a broad coalition against Russian President Vladimir Putin and detoxify Russia of the authoritarian and aggressive politics of the dictator and his allies. In an interview with Newsweek, Poroshenko—who was elected after the pro-Western Maidan Revolution in 2014 and served until 2019—said this coalition must have ambitions larger than defeating Moscow in Ukraine and look to "de-Putinize Russia." The NATO-EU pro-Ukraine coalition should become an anti-Putin alliance, Poroshenko said, comparing Putin's aggression with that of Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler. "I think in general an anti-Putin coalition already exists, and now we just need to formalize this coalition around the world," he said. Poroshenko warned that he is "absolutely confident that Russia has the fate of a very, very big North Korea," adding: "No freedom, a dictatorship, full control of mass media, unhappy and poor people." "It's possible to minimize this result," he said, by removing Putin from power and influence. "We should very attentively make a de-Putinization of Russia."
This will come with costs to the Russian people. But, Poroshenko said, this is a necessary evil. "I'm absolutely confident that within a few months, the results of the sanctions will be disastrous for the Russian economy, disastrous for the people who are already poisoned by Russian TV and support the barbarian aggression against the Ukrainian people." "They should pay the price for that. Learn the lessons, stop the aggression, give back Ukrainian soil, and then do their best to save Russia." In the meantime, Poroshenko urged Western leaders to be skeptical of the Kremlin. "Don't trust Putin, because when I was president, for five years I had many negotiations with him. Nothing he promised was really implemented. Don't be afraid of Putin. Putin goes as far as we allow him to go."
He added: "I think the war can end in only two ways: By our victory, the victory of the whole world, or by capitulation by the whole world to Putin. I definitely do not believe in the second scenario."
It is a good message, but beware of Poroshenko. He is an oligarch who got voted out of Ukrainian presidency because he was ineffective at fighting corruption, and he championed that only one language should be spoken, thus alienating all of the Russian speaking people in the eastern regions of the nation.'De-Putinize Russia': Petro Poroshenko Urges West to Take its Chance
I agree with Mr. Poroshenko. Isolate Russia to the greatest extent possible, and do not allow Putin a vctory in Ukraine.

It's possible that Russia will eat Ukraine, or at last large parts of it, no matter what the west does, short of a nuclear war with Russia.
The best bet at this point is to just let that happen, and then isolate Russia economically and culturally to the point where the Russians themselves (primarily the military) cry uncle and decide it's not worth it anymore, and the Putin regime collapses. That is, of course, hoping that countries like China, India, and Brazil don't have enough business with them either- which is only a faint hope.
I agree in theory but in truth the economic pressures and practices of inherent in capitalism, greed, and self interest will constantly work to undermine those efforts. Those sanctions will end up as a game of wack-o-mole, with more and more people literally betting profit keeping the mole healthy and well fed!'De-Putinize Russia': Petro Poroshenko Urges West to Take its Chance

Poroshenko lol, like he has any credibility.
I saw a clip where he was ranting about how Ukrainian kids in the West would go to school while the kids in Donbas would live in cellars, yet here he is talking about Putin being a modern day Hitler.
Far more than you.
Nazis (real and imagined) are to Putin as Jews were to Hitler.

Troll on
Nazis are, or should be, denounced by everyone and not just Russians.
Likewise, going on the views expressed by Poroshenko about how the ethnic Russians in the Donbas should be treated, it is fair to liken his comments to the racist ideology/ideologues you claim is hardly existent in Ukraine.
And the far right neo Nazi types in Ukraine are real, even if you want to ,ridiculously downplay their influence because it makes a bit of a mockery on your

If we couldn’t even do it with Cuba or Iran, the idea that we could do it with Russia is silly.
That is only acceptable if Ukraine gets all of her stolen lands back, including Crimea.
The only thing that comes to mind reading the above is a little like some Confederate General in the Civil War insisting that they will not seek peace until the South gets all their plantations back. The Donbass and Crimea are not, and never have been Stepan Banderas' plantations.
How many Poles did the Russians murder at Katyn? 22,000?
They've already murdered that many civilians just in Mariupol.

Stepan Bandera’s cronies killed a hundred thousand Poles in Galicia...... and were actively complicit in the Holocaust as well.
Yet he’s a national hero.
Spare us the posturing.
And Bandera’s German backers killed tens of millions.....in a fraction of the time.
Again, spare us the posturing.
Gee, between the slaughter of the Poles and their complicity in German operations there, we’re looking at a million…..minimum.
Try educating yourself for once.
Blithering about de-Nazification in disingenuous at best.
