the irony is thick - migrants can overwhelm border states and 2 million encounters strains services. But not in my backyard
Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser is asking the National Guard to mobilize in an effort to deal with the migrants that are being bused to the city from southern states.

The mayor, who has championed accepting migrants entering the country illegally as a human rights issue, requested the DC National Guard be activated indefinitely to assist with what she called a "humanitarian crisis."

This below is what she seems to be asking for, and it doesn't seem unreasonable to be honest.

And I didn't see any comment of, "Not in my Back Yard".

Bowser is asking that the DC Armory be used as a processing center and DC National Guard resources be used to help field migrants as they arrive by bus.

Similar to January 6th she is asking for unarmed NG troops help with managing the situation.

that was my mandatory comment (NIMBY).. you do know the situation at the southern border?
it's so bad traditional Dem districts are voting/trending Republican.
so when the DC (Dem) mayor gets bent over too many migrants - that is extreme ironic

I don't think she is getting "bent" over the migrants per se but rather her ability to manage the processing efficiently.

You wont effectively be able to make this into the gotcha you thought.

I simply can't believe how Trump simply made up this issue and 40% of the country now thinks it's the end of the world.

That's rich. I love how D.C. and NYC don't think they ought to take any of the over a million illegals into their cities.

Can you point to something in that article that suggests thinks DC should not have to take them? I only see her asking for help with processing them expeditiously and avoid a humanitarian crisis.

I will say I do detest illegal immigration and the situation at the border. To see what my fellow Americans are going through down there, and it's heartbreaking. Illegal immigration is one of the reasons I broke from the Democratic Party.

Straight-up, I wouldn't live anywhere near the Southern border! It's truly a travesty. And on that issue alone, I see where Trump get his support.

I saw an interview by a Democrat mayor in a border town that mocked mayor Bowser. He said it is so bad that U.S. citizens that are sick are being denied hospital care because their hospitals are full of undocumented immigrants.

Link?

Be careful what you wish for, you just may get it.

(This is what happens when feel good intentions occurs without a plan.)

Yep, especially since the DC Mayor has not stated what the NG’s mission would be.

How exactly would DC “process” these illegal immigrants?

Maybe you missed it.....

It ocurred during an update on what is happening on the border on Fox who has given excellent coverage of the crisis. with superb drone coverage and actual reporters on the ground while the rest of the media are MIA. They also have been doing a superb job of covering the deadly fentanyl crisis that is pouring across the border and killing our youth. The number one cause of among teens to those in their 30's are associated with fentanyl. Sad state of affairs.

OK ,I'll take your word for it but unless I can hear it in context it's just a sound bite

While my heart goes out to many down there, I especially can't imagine what it's like for those that own land & ranches right on the boarder!

They can't go out at night on their own land, staying inside where they have to keep the blinds shut at night in the rooms they have lights on, listening for the sounds of those traversing their property, only emerging in the morning to (cautiously) inspect their property for the illegal activity that occurred during the night! Yowsa! I can't imagine living like that!

Look, there's nothing that would get me to vote for Trump. But as I said above, and said often, he got it right on the illegal immigration issue. It truly is a travesty failure of our Federal Government. No other way to say it.

Fox has interviewed these people and the horror they are living with not to mention the devastating damages to their property. A lot of sleepless nights.

I didn’t miss anything. What, exactly, does “help field migrants” entail?

The DC Mayor has stressed that DC is not their “final destination” making one assume that she wants to have them transported elsewhere ASAP, but at federal expense as a military mission.

Actually, many volunteers have poured out with housing and donations to help these people. You love to see it.

These aren't illegal immigrants.
