Day 14, Closing Arguments - Defense (Friday 7/12) [W:252]

By Unanimous, she means that everybody must vote the same way to come to a conclusion.
Its not like the supreme court where you have 5-4 decisions or some such ****.

That is the standard for a jury decision across America......... nothing about THAT makes her horrendous.

Sorry. I forgot my sarcasm tag ;)

Someone here was claiming that a 4-2 guilty decison was acceptable.

LOL Don't take it out on Caine, he doesn't know you like "we" do!!

If you think the prosecution proved Murder 2, Manslaughter, Aggravated Assault, OR Child Abuse....

You are...

LOL, sorry maybe I've been watching too long. The Judge "freaks out" about the ammunition for the gun being sent back to the jury deliberations?? Is she REALLy scared they are going to shoot each other???

Sorry, yes I went there.:surrender:good_job::2funny:

anyone believe this will NOT be a quick verdict?

Funny, I just heard that on CNN, MSNBC, and HLN. I also heard that Guy had SO MUCH PASSION! It almost makes me want to puke. Has anyone told these guys that having "the heart" of the prosecutors case be the hearts of the jurors that they have no legal case?

if he only had a brain

apologies to the scarecrow

I believe it will not be a quick verdict.

They are women...... they will want to argue about something..... then someone when complaint out loud about their flow or a chipped nail..... someone will comment on the others dress... and they will discuss that for several hours....

j/k.

But, seriously, they will want to try to look at all the transcripts and evidence and go over it because someone will be confused.

I really doubt that it will be.

You've seen the gun forum and know every bit as well as I do that there are people out there who sincerely believe that ownership of a firearm is indicative of an inclination toward homicide and if you actually carry that firearm in public that your intent can be nothing other than using it to kill someone. I guarantee you that there is at least one of those people on the jury and that person will NEVER agree to a not guilty verdict. If that's the case then the best Zimmerman can hope for will be a hung jury.

Don't contradict Buck, he's an expert on the law.

A verdict today or tomorrow morning and Zimmerman walks....

only after angela corey

C'mon cut the guy some slack. What would you do in his shoes? He was given a case he probably knew he couldn't win. He put on a fair case considering how riddled with holes it was before it began. I would have chosen different tactics but just as in this case, it's easy to view with 20/20 hindsight. The aspect I found most unappealing is the constant yelling at the jury. He did that the entire trial. I just think the jury deserved more respect.

<shrug> However, I heard commentators say after O'Mara's close, HE should have been yelling at the jury.

Again, the juxtaposing in this case was B I Z A R R E.

Corey, BDLR and others charged *affidavit* Z with half truths and left out facts which affected the PC decision.

This is the result of *said* action

The state's piss poor/full of assumptions case against Z

Fair comment. However, I'd proffer, as sharp as O'Mara demonstrated in the trial, I'd be shocked if the "gun issue" wasn't covered in voir dire.

Ok you've convinced me, both Corey and BdlR should resign. :agree

Some of the judge's instructions are complicated and will require review. I don't know what to think about a six-person jury for a murder trial, even if it's "only" second-degree. And I wish there were a couple of men on the jury.

But that's not how it is, and all my life I have had confidence in the jury system. I think this jury will do an earnest and thoughtful job. I surely hope so!

Re: Day 14, Closing Arguments - Defense (Friday 7/12)

I'd suggest that while most of us are looking at this and saying "No way is he guilty" there are also about 20% of the people out there that, just like Spanky, will not be swayed by fact or circumstance. Hell, I watched a woman on one of the news shows say "because he had a gun" when she was asked why she believed Zimmerman was guilty. For some people facts and logic just don't fit into their world view and odds are that there is at least one of those people on the jury.

Because of that I have to assume that one of two things will happen:
1. Hung jury
2. Manslaughter based on a compromise verdict

My take as well.
