It's very hard to imagine any legitimate justification for such a beating.

On the other hand, there is no reason to assume that the beating happened only or mainly because the victim is transgender. Fights after fender benders happen all the time. We don't really know what happened here, but the web-sphere is going to get outraged abouit it anyway.

As I mentioned last night, if I wasn't told this person was transgender I'd think I was looking at a large man brutally attacking a woman. The victim is obviously small framed and dressed feminine. So he either thought he was beating a woman or he knew he was beating a transgender. Either way it's wrong.

According to what I have seen, transgenders and gays in the US have the highest per capita hate crime, higher than the hate crime targeting religious minorities like Muslims and Jews.

Here in the US, use of the wrong derogatory label turns an ordinary crime into a hate crime. Unless the victim is a woman and then it doesnt seem to count. And Jesse Smollet is now a one of those reported hate crimes in the US.

Discrimination against those who have a mental disorder that excludes them from serving in the military. Transgender is one of many disorders. Attention Deficit Disorder can exclude you from the military. Nothing special about the transgendered that neccessitates an exception for them.

There are many reasons people can be opposed to homosexuality as a practice and gay marriage. Its obviously a foreign concept for you but you can indeed love the sinner and abhor the sin, without prejudice. Homosexuality IS a sin in the eyes of most religions. I always figured that folks of all kinds were just like everyone else or is there some kind of special immunity that being transgendered gives one to road rage?
