A Dallas school district is being accused of using extreme force to restrain a 7-year-old special needs student last week.
Yosio Lopez was handcuffed, Tased and bruised by Dallas Independent School District (DISD) Police after the boy started banging his head against a wall in class, the Lopez family lawyer, David Ramirez, told CNN.
The boy told his mother, April Odis, that he was put on a desk with his arms cuffed behind his back while the school principal put her elbow on his neck and choked him to restrain him, the family lawyer said.
After the incident at school, Dallas ISD Police transported Yosio to a mental health facility without his mother's permission and committed him for nearly a week. His mother was unable to visit him for the first two days, Ramirez said.
Yosio was heavily sedated during his stay at Dallas Behavioral Hospital and was restricted from seeing his mother under the claim that he was "a danger to himself and those around him,"

Damn.. A week in a mental institute... at 7 years old.. against his mothers will.
Hand cuffs, maybe if you have to get their attention. But Taser?
You will know that the Taser is NOT a safe weapon, in Canada it is regulated as a "lethal" weapon because people have died.
They could have killed the kid
Wow, America really is becoming "great again"
...I'm not sure I see the connection to Trump, but I certainly agree that this was horrible.
It's not about Trump at all...but the people who voted form him

Those people aren't a new phenomena that only popped into existence on January 20th, FaL. Your implication that several different people colluded in this "because Trump" seems... highly unlikely.
I would pull my kid out of that school, and seek to press charges against the officer and principle. And I would sue the mental health facility for denying me access to my child.
And if the principle and cop weren't held accountable, I would likely wait a few months and find them accountable in other ways. Principle needs that elbow broken, and that cop needs tazed a few times.

Yosio is a special needs student who suffers from attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder and another mood disorder. He has experienced similar outbursts in the past but has always had a trained school aide nearby to help calm him down.
Moderator's Warning: Understandably, the topic causes anger, but please, let's not go there with violent rhetoric. Thank you.
I have a little skepticism about this story. The whole account is from the parent and her lawyer, and due to privacy laws, the police nor the school system can refute any of it for at least some time. So all you get is one side of the story. If true, it is wrong. However, from what I read, the alleged tasering is based off of marks the lawyer claims the kid had, not anything else. I'm not completely dismissing her story here, just saying that parents have a huge advantage over schools and police in these situations where we can't get the whole story from the other side, whether to dispute what has been put out or confirm it or give reasons for even some of the actions.
