Daily showers are purely ‘performative’ and have no real health benefit, experts insist (1 Viewer)

At least its more clear why back in the day they only bathed on Saturday's.

Are showers overrated?

Or is this just to give the Euro's a pass?

Since we will shower less, can I put back on my high flow shower head?

This is a real stinky situation

Quit wasting water

Maybe Fauci ran recommend a BO mask that actually works

=========================

Confession: If I'm inactive, I will often skip showers on the weekends and days when I'm working remotely (unless I'm going out for some social occasion). I do shower during the week, as I don't want to offend my coworkers.

This is not a startlingly new revelation.
Daily showers offer no health benefits but I am glad most people do it.
Would not want to have been around 'back in the day' when people bathed only monthly or longer.

Me and Mrs VySky were watching tombstone yesterday. I asked her what she thought those women smelt like?

She said.... "not good". Putrid...

Daily showers are bad for your skin, particularly if you use soap. They're basically just good manners.

Not to mention very refreshing.

Its a great place to think.

I'd participate in this thread because I'm interested in hygiene, but I think that the OP just posted this to complain about Fauci. No thanks.

One thing weird I found living in China is that you cannot find deodorant anywhere.

I asked my colleagues and they said it wasn't used much because Chinese people don't sweat.

I thought they were full of shit.

So I Googled it (when I moved back; Google isn't allowed in China) and they're partially correct.

Asians do perspire but they're missing the gene that causes the odor.

If you want to see the science behind it read up...

Well I knew the odor was from bacteria not sweat, but I should have known that salty water alone won't support bacteria.

Say you work with me on my hobby farm for oh..... 30 minutes.

It would be very prudent to shower afterwords.

We have ticks, chiggers and all kinds of little creatures that like to cling on.

But, some take a shower then don't use deodorant. Smell like a$$ by noon.
Why not just go right to the deodorant, skip the middle man?

Meh....probably depends on the person. I know my skin and hair will be oily as hell if I skip a day, and my BO would be off the charts. I sweat in 40 degree weather.

I'll stick with my daily showers for the own and the benefit of everyone who ever spends time around me.

They have those blue pills. Or the yellow ones.. Deep discount!
Did you see how hot the chicks on the commercial are?! :ROFLMAO:
My favorite scene in the new Pink Panther is when Steve Martin, playing Clouseau, lures a lovely lady to his room only to drop his only Viagara down the sink drain.

I heard "daily showers" put Trump in a great mood.

Phew..............no thanks

Just the thought of it brings me back to the ship with a 120 guys crammed into a small sleeping compartment in racks 3 deep and 24" from each other?

Unvaxxed ...
Unshowered ...

Now showering is bad for you? Please.

Yeah, it's pretty silly. I roll my eyes anytime it's claimed that research or "experts" have taken an absolute position on anything, as if every possible variable could possibly be measured.

I've heard this too....but I've also experienced Asians/Indians who claim they don't get BO but still smell like shit because they don't wear deodorant. Eventually, it's not only the gene that causes the odor--it's bacterial growth in moist places 🤮

There is no gene that causes the odor. The smell is caused by bacteria that thrive in dark, warm, wet place. Don't they have bacteria in China?

That's not what we're saying. Read the science linked in Post 24.

Here's the conclusion:

All of this means that the body with the mutation lacks the protein required to transport out the molecules which get converted by the skin microbiome into volatile compounds that give sweat its odoriferous smell.
