Thought I'd share some cult movies I love, perhaps you might find something you enjoy watching, share yours as well and perhaps I'll find something I can watch.

Now not everyone's agrees on what a cult movie is or not but looking at some lists these are films I will define as such.

The Big Lebowski
- Definitely one of the more popular cult films out there, back when I was younger this film was a real life changer, I definitely embraced dudeism and up until I had kids it really made life so chill, I still retain some of that chillness to this day and people that work under me seem to appreciate that I don't freak out about every little thing.

Army of Darkness
- This films cheesy humor had me from the get-go. "Groovy". This is a film you can always chuck on if you have a free friends over with beers and it's always enjoyable.

Waiting... - For ANYONE that works or has worked in a restaurant, this film will be immediately relatable, I was actually watching this again the other day and although one could argue the comedy is really silly and immature, the script is actually, for what it is, pretty well written in the context of the movie, the characters are all really strong and well acted.

Grandmas Boy - This one... Is definitely one of the dumber movies in real terms on this list but I ****ing love it I don't care. I was a bit of a stoner when I was younger, me and my friends would watch this many a weekend.

3/4 with me.

My guilty pleasure is the Saw movies...:3oops:

Both Army of Darkness and The Big Lebowski are on my list, but I'd add:

Blade Runner,

Breakfast Club,

A Clockwork Orange,

The Crow,

Fight Club,

Fright Night (1985),

Heavy Metal,

Kick Ass,

Kung Fu Hustle,

The Lost Boys,

Logan's Run,

Mad Max (1979),

Miracle Mile,

Monty Python and The Holy Grail,

Night of the Living Dead (1968),

Pulp Fiction.

Pumpkin Head,

Repo Man,

Reservoir Dogs,

Sin City,

THEM!,

They Live,

V for Vendetta.

Oh yeah...Night of the Living Dead, Psycho, and The Birds...most any Hitchcock movie...

I agree with The Big Lebowski and Army of Darkness. Also:

Clerks
Pulp Fiction
Fight Club
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Office Space
Dazed and Confused
Fast Times at Ridgemont High

  • A Clockwork Orange
  • Rocky Horror Picture Show
  • Blue Velvet
  • Underworld (series)
  • Lost Boys
  • My Own Private Idaho
  • Breakfast Club
  • Wall Street
  • Fifth Element
  • Paris is Burning
  • Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
  • The Women (original version)
  • The Lion in Winter
  • Guess Who's Coming to Dinner
  • Whatever Happened to Baby Jane
  • All About Eve
  • Mildred Pierce
  • Rope (Hitchcock)
  • Deception (1946)
  • A film that embodies Baldwins's remark, "a ruthlessly accurate (and much underrated) portrait of a southern girl," that, in ways Hollywood rarely in those days did, made for an atypically honest portrayal of racial dynamics between black and white people. Hell, Bette's character is "bad to the bone," right down to her very name.
    • This is Our Life (full movie at the link)
      • Completely unrelated: A book worth reading that's mentioned in the film: Blackstone's Commentaries. Even in the '40s, one could from time to time obtain the odd useful recommendation from a movie.

I will put up a very old movie called dark star

A sci-fi on a space ship with lots of minor plots but the main one is of a an ai bomb that gets stuck in the loading bay and the captain has to have a philosophical discussion with it on why it must not explode.

Rear Window, 1954, with Jimmie Stewart.....IMO, the best.

V for Vendetta.

Someone on here was "talking" to me about V for Vendetta just the other day. How it escaped my memory to list in my earlier post, I don't know. In any case, "V4V" is definitely a flick I really like. I suppose there are others that don't come immediately to mind.

Wouldn't it be great if cable services had a movie category called "cult movies?"

ETA:
Another a few others did just come to mind:
-- Debbie Does Dallas
-- Dr. Strangelove
-- The Devil in Mrs. Jones.
-- M Butterfly
-- The Graduate
-- The Seventh Seal
-- Citizen Kane
-- 2001 Space Odyssey
-- Inception
-- The Theory of Everying
-- Good Will Hunting
-- All 007 movies

That movie was released at the same time as the first Star Wars movie. Dark Star is a much better film.

Heathers
The Big Chill
Cruel Intentions
WallStreet

Dont know if those are all cult films but i lover them none the less also. Never seen army of darkness though.

A new zealand comedy / horror movie, black sheep
It's not that easy to make sheep look evil.

Overlooked gems...

Almighty Johnsons: New Zealand tv show, we are watching it currently, for about the 10th time.

Soapdish: One of our favorites.

The Mouse That Roared (the book is better, but the movie is still a hoot.)

Piece of Cake: Brit drama that follows a Spitfire squad from before the war to the peak of air combat for Brits in that war. The book is even better, but this is ridiculously good.

The original Brit House of Cards: Where the American version uses a backhoe, the original employs a rapier wit.

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai - Across the 8th Dimension

Weekend at Bernie's 1& 2...

For me (not quite cult status but):

Amélie
The Fifth Element
The Bridge over the River Kwai
Lawrence of Arabia
