Crucial Weekend for Obamacare Website begins with a Shutdown......[W:124]

Re: Crucial Weekend for Obamacare Website begins with a Shutdown......

Of course. Doing nothing has been THE answer for 75 years or more. You may see it as destruction, but Conservatives think all changes are destructive. Sometimes you need to tear things down to build something new.

This is untrue-conservatives are for change when nothing else is proven to work-but change simply for change's sake isnt good enough. This is one way liberals "get away" with the horrible **** they spring on everyone else-by saying they are "trying to help"-well thats not good enough, in fact thats a disney channel answer.

Its worth noting that nearly every criticism of the ACA has come true.

And there's plenty to be happy about it. Anyone who cares about the public's health, shifting the current flawed payment policies toward reimbursing for quality, and getting people covered has plenty to be happy about. Nothing may have been preferable for the glib purists, but for anyone who has to live with the many flaws in the U.S. health care system doing nothing is unacceptable. And really, that's all of us.

Why do you Obama supporters keep pretending that it was Obamacare or doing nothing? That isn't true, that isn't what's being said.

When republicans resisted, Obama could have taken a good healthcare plan to the American people in the 2010 midterms. That would have GUARANTEED a better outcome than what democrats got in 2010.

He didn't do it because he doesn't support a better plan .. he opted for Mitt Romney's plan instead .. BECAUSE HE'S A CORPORATIST.

I hear what you're saying about healthcare in America and I agree with you. I've been working on this issue with PHNP since 2009. But the ACA is not the answer .. it is doomed to failure because of its design. DOOMED to failure.

I choose to continue working for REAL healthcare reform, which Obamacare is not.

I choose to continue working for Single-Payer .. but I can respect your thoughts and approach, although I don't agree.

In some ways I admire your pie in the sky dreaming. But you forget that EVEN the public option was squashed from the start. There is just too much influence from the insurers to get single payer in any form passed. So....the alternative WAS to do nothing.

You mean you believe every lie told about the ACA. To say no good has come out of it is why conservatives have no credibility. It is here to stay by the way, when will the GOP start helping make it better?

So you support the GOP changing the ACA to be in line with their philosophy on government intervention in the private sector?

The ACA is a Republican plan that allows the private sector to continue serving its customers. Making it work should be a no brainer for them. If it fails, single payer will be the only option. Is that what YOU want?

Please detail the Republican plan that was implemented within the ACA. I do not want single payer because it would require an additional tax to be leveraged on all income(e.g. payroll tax) in the range of 30-35%.

It's called Romneycare .. designed by the uber-conservative Heritage Foundation to avoid enacting Single-Payer.

The Heritage Foundation designed a bill that was then enacted by the Democratic super-majority in the Massachusetts congress. Hanging your hat on that one?

I guess Romney didn't get the memo when he vetoed portions of the bill, to which the super-majority overrode him.

Which parts of Romneycare did they leverage at the federal level? Or did they just replace the word Massachusettes with Y'all and take the budget and multiply it by 50?

Had you been smarter .. I wouldn't have had to answer the question for you.

Read what I said again-your comprehension is lacking. The intrusiveness, incompetence, raised costs ($2500 average savings my ass), and inconsistency were EXACTLY what the opponents of the ACA said would happen.

Re: Crucial Weekend for Obamacare Website begins with a Shutdown......

This will still, no matter what, be Obama's signature legislation. It is landmark. And, unless it is repealed (not going to happen), he will go down in history as having revolutionized healthcare insurance (and thus our healthcare system) for the better. Has it gone smoothly? Hell no. Will it eventually be tweaked into something hardly recognizable as the original? Hell yes.

Entrepreneurs will be forever grateful. People with pre-existing conditions will be thanking their lucky stars. And, overall, we will be a better nation because of it.

People who've just sailed along on employer-provided healthcare just don't get it. Sorry, folks, but that's the truth.

I agree it will be considered his signature legislation, but also his greatest failure. It will not make things better but in rare circumstances, and not anywhere near the number of folks will benefit as those who will be set back by it. Insurance companies will make record profits guaranteed into the future.

Entrepreneurs will not be grateful, there was affordable group insurance available, tailored to them, well before Obamacare and Obamacare does nothing to improve on that and in some cases causes the loss of that tailored coverage for something more generic and more costly. Yes, those with pre-existing conditions who didn't receive their insurance through a work group plan do benefit from Obamacare, but that one provision could be easily established as it is without the rest of the beast.

I've worked both on and off throughout my life and I've never seen such a cluster**** (where it comes to healthcare).
