So those goobers stormed the capitol thinking they had America guarding their six.

Turns out America has sent over 100,000 tips to the FBI to make sure these fools go to jail. America did not support their actions.

Where did they get the idea that they were doing the right thing?

Conservative talk shows like Limbaugh, Levine and Hannity.

We the tax payers own the airwaves these shows are transmitted over. Should we allow these shows to publish fake news stories like "there was massive election fraud?" Such stories are a threat to the Constitution as we've seen. The hosts of these shows know the truth, but they say what their audience wants to hear.

It's not suppression of free speech, these hosts can find other media to host on. A street corner and a box will do.

Should we regulate these shows?

Government regulation of media isn't desirable for pretty obvious reasons. The only practical way of "regulating" them is by making it undesirable for advertisers to give them their money. This is a private entity vs private entity matter.

Sure...as long as you regulate all the other media, too. Like the mainstream media who repeat what Mad Maxine has said.

There has to be a distinction made. Despite every sane adult's sentiments, there is no law against lying to the public. As such, lying unto itself is not a reason to revoke a broadcast license. However the line can and should be drawn at . . . .

. . . advocating violence; fostering sedition; being a part of the logistics of any armed insurrection or conflict; etc; etc; These types of things should all bring pressure to bear on revoking the broadcast license of any radio station, or over-the-airwaves TV.

If lying to the public were reason enough to revoke a broadcast license, then all religious broadcasting would be banned from the airwaves, and that would turn the 1st Amendment on its head.

A "free" sample of the torrent of subversion those goobers are subjected to. You can almost feel sorry for them.

You don't own the airwaves any more than you own the air.
Wrong. Actually the public does own the airwaves. That's why they're called the public airwaves!!
Broadcasters are licensed, their licenses can be revoked and their broadcast bands sold to other, more responsible, caretakers of the public trust.

The right wing is going to get more radicalized before they get less radicalized. The Republican house members who are terrified for their lives because of their own voters are going to be replaced one by one with members who were making threats.

Better look behind you in the mirror. The radicals are the one you voted for who will dismantle everything you love about the country.

It was the Reagan FCC that abolished the fairness doctrine in 1987.

The Limbaugh show was only possible after Reagan abolished the "fairness doctrine." If the "fairness doctrine" was still in place, radio and TV stations would have to give equal time to the other side, meaning the libs.

Taxpayers aren't paying for them like you said.

Zero evidence of that. In fact, quite the contrary. Biden has an over 40+ year record as a centrist. One of the reasons he was elected was because he's the embodiment of the anti-radical.

?? I made no reference to taxpayers at all. Perhaps you need new prescription lenses. Or you should be addressing your comment to somebody else.

Government regulation of the content of hate radio would set a bad precedent. If they tell people to pick up their Rambo sticks and storm a building, that's different. Short of that, they can say what they want until they scare away advertisers and piss off their bosses. That's how it works.

No he doesn’t. He has a 40 year record of doing whatever the party tells him too. Accusing Clarence Thomas of sexual perversion baselessly was not centrist, accusing Romney of wanting to enslave blacks was not centrist, failing to condemn the assasination of a political opponent was not centrist. He is not and never has been a centrist.

Paul Harvey helped elect Reagan and supported him. Paul Harvey was the start of right wing talk radio and greatly enhanced by the removal of the fairness doctrine.

OH SNAP !
Mashmouth leading in the ring with his flapping jaw once again. One would think the daily concussions would at least slow him down.

Oh jeeeez. If you weren't born yesterday, then you have to stop trying to convince everyone on this board that you were. Nothing you've cited is even suggestive of being anywhere but the center. Political opposition alone doesn't place a person on any fringe footing. As for Clarence Thomas - well, you go back to square one and try to learn some history. Biden defended Thomas and went after Anita Hill.

How misinformed could you possibly be?

Just because something is called a “fact check” doesn’t mean the person writing it doesn’t have their own biases. Most fact checkers are members of the press. Fact checking has gone beyond whether something happened or not or whether someone actually said something or not but goes on to say what someone really meant, or the right way to view what happened.

Ummmmmmm, the liberal lefty media spent four years claiming 2016 election fraud. They forwarded baseless claims of Russia, Russia, Russia for four years. Where is even one shred of evidence that anything Russia did changed enough votes to change the election results?

Thanks for the unbiased and totally fair poll choices.

They were just talking on one of those shows about a memo from Admin that warned the hosts to cease spreading conspiracy theories and cut down on disinformation. Some like Levin might challenge instead of comply, but Peter Boyles agreed that they should tone down the slander and conspiracies. He may not comply either in the future, we'll see, and we'll see if any of them get dumped for insisting on lying to their listeners. I didn't take poll, neither answer was good enough to check.

An easily parried opinion. Perhaps you should check your facts on that.

Probably the only thing that could be done while still supporting free speech would be to go after advertisers at the affiliate stations.
