Didn't realize how large some of these forces were still. Is this concerning?

This is what's really concerning

We're rich.

Germany is supposed to spend 2% by agreement.

They have the best tanks in the world, but they only bought like 300 of them, and usually half of those aren't fit for combat.

Budget and numbers themselves are not good qualifies for how good a military force is.

The Saudis spend more than the Russians, but the Saudi military is of terrible quality. You cannot buy your way into military competency.

Obviously we need more money for the military if all those other countries combined might be a threat? What navy is going to cross all that ocean before we detected them? Canada? Mexico? What air force has enough capability to reach the us in force without us detecting them? Canada? Mexico? What army is going to march across the oceans to get here without us detecting them? Canada? Mexico?

I say ten more trillion to the military budget just for ****s and giggles.

Your post makes no sense. You assume that a direct attack on the U.S. mainland is the only way to threaten U.S. interests or U.S. citizens.

If not why do we need such a large military and so much spending on it, to be the world's police?

Thanks for adding your worthless thoughts since I said none of that but hey, feel free to twist what I said into your 'theory'.

Lol yeah, you “just” wailed about the US being the “world police”, also known as “actually interacting with the international community, helping allied countries, and generally not desperately trying to hide behind the oceans”.

We have interests and millions of citizens overseas. For example, there are 100,000 American civilians living in the Seoul, South Korea area. They are voters and taxpayers just like you and me and entitled to protection by the U.S. government the same as you and I.

You mean like W's interacting with iraq? That kind of international community or our presence in afghanistan like we're doing any good at all there? Helping allied countries? Our current president is crapping all over our allies while cozying up to dictators. Anything else you care to lol about?

It wouldn't happen to be that Seoul is basically a stone's throw from north korea? There are a few million or so mexicans living in america. Should mexico park their military along our borders?

If americans choose to live in seoul what concern is that of the military? Free will and all that good stuff, they chose to live there why should the rest of the taxpayers have to support the military for them?

Because as I said, they are just as much American citizens as you and I.

What makes you living in Florida or me in Arkansas any more entitled to protection by the American military than our fellow citizens living in Seoul?

Our current president is an idiot.

But after he's gone, whether in four months or four years our interests overseas will remain.

Someone has to attack american soil, that's the difference.

What is so special about "American soil"?

From a guy using a nazi symbol carrying an elephant it doesn't surprise me you have no idea. You guys spout all the crap in the world about our flag and your love for america and yet you are stumped?

I criticize my country left and right but wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Right now I'm ashamed of the leadership of our country but I still love living here and if anyone ever invaded this old man would volunteer to defend her. It's called real patriotism not flag waving and giving people the middle finger at the same time.

I agree with your second paragraph. Not your first of course as I refuse to call something I found at random online a nazi symbol.

But to me America is not just its territory. That is narrow minded provincial thinking. It is also its citizens and its values and ideals. All four of those deserve to be protected no matter where they are.

You may refuse to call it a nazi symbol but others have no problem, enough have told you.

and why should I care about the opinions of others unless it has a direct impact on me?

College football coaches have a saying about the boosters (team financial supporters).

"Give us all your nickels and dimes but you can keep your two cents."

Uh huh. Why do you suppose people get your avatar incorrectly? Any clue?

People tend to follow a popular narrative. Hating anything they see as related to Nazis is extremely popular and non controversial (naturally) and of course there is that most awful of modern attributes, virtue signaling.

Popular narrative of the nazis were not good people? Or do all of us have that wrong? There's another thing called a dog whistle or in your case as far as I'm concerned, a bullhorn. To me your avatar says to all the other nazi symbol loving folks, hey, I'm one of you.
