Today, I was in the grocery store, and while standing in line, I noticed that the Cosmo magazines had an opaque plastic cover shield, which allowed only the center of the cover to be visible. I haven't read Cosmo in years, but I did back in the 70's and 80's. It was essentially a magazine which interested feminists and working women, and always had fairly controversial cover girls. So, I'm standing in line, thinking wtf? Why does Cosmo mag need a shield to cover the cover contents? I removed the shield, and looked over the cover, and it was pretty apparent. Cosmo has seemingly gone from a liberated woman's mag to a early puberty sex manual.;)

I guess it's just my age, but I was a little shocked at the articles they run now. They always had an air of subtle sexual content, but it was never so overt, or seemed to silly. I googled for some of the covers from back when I used to buy them on occasion, and I thought some of you might remember, and tell me if I'm just out-dated, or if this is pretty normal for current times.

Here's a couple of pix for comparison.
