The government of America is made up of the GOP and the Democratic Party. So how about America? Are you anti-America, too?
No...That was Trump's tariff, inherited by Biden. In case you forgot. This is why costs are increasing in Britain; the Conservative's Brexit stunt failure:
Your handle and avatar say differently.
That is insane. We were in the middle of a pandemic not seen in 100 yrs.Biden inherited a booming economy that was seeing massive reductions in unemployment, low inflation and massive positive gains in income and multiple quarters of gdp growth, falling childhood poverty. It was the envy of the world.
Pretty good start for any president.
We can pretty much change our government every two years and yet we keep voting the same people back into office, who is stupid, them or us?Howdy!
What defines "help" is very open to interpretation. For instance, George W. Bush though he was "helping" people in the Middle East by trying to replace Sharia law with democracy. Obama thought he was "helping" people by pushing through the healthcare lobbyist-approved rebrand of Hillary Clinton's failed plan, which opened the door to replacing higher premiums with sky-high deductibles. Many people simply went from not being able to afford their premiums to not being able to afford their deductibles, a distinction without a difference in practice.
My main point is that all deficit spending to such an extreme level is bad, no matter what it's going toward. It's despicable for our politicians to have put the American people in this situation, no matter what their excuses are. Wars, social programs that go on endlessly for decades and only make the targeted problem worse, attempting to manipulate markets only to create higher prices. It's all bureaucratic bullshit, and it's insane that Americans have become so manipulated that they not only ask for more of this ineffective nonsense, but they actually want to have their taxes increased topay for itso they government can get more money to recklessly overspend at a deficit.
For sure! That is insane. We were in the middle of a pandemic not seen in 100 yrs.
Indeed. The problem is trying to convince congress critters to stop their continuous annual deficit (stimulus?) spending, since that results in re-election rates of over 90%.
not many voters care. or if they care they care only in the abstract. When voters are told the biggest item in the budget isn't defense spending-Indeed.
The only thing which might change that is if they started loosing their re-elections based on their continuous annual deficit (stimulus?) spending, and that'd up to the voters.

it's interest on the debt . that helps. but not much because voters are like Congress critters too "sorry about the debt but I want mine"
Democracies and government always being reactive rather than pro-active.I don't think Congress or the eelctrate can change until it becomes a crisis -like which entitlements must be cut.
Yeah, my wife and I were exposed to the 'Don't count on SS' (and the like retiree programs) so we've lived within our means, and have salted away a goodly sum. I hope it's enough.and that's not far off
and it's gonna hurt
Indeed.

it's n ot just "democrcies" it's an inability of Congress and POTUS to think long term. meaning past the next electionDemocracies and government always being reactive rather than pro-active.
Good for you.. I need every SSA dollar I can get after BidenflationYeah, my wife and I were exposed to the 'Don't count on SS' (and the like retiree programs) so we've lived within our means, and have salted away a goodly sum. I hope it's enough.
Why aren't Americans spending then?
Economic Concerns Have Some Americans Setting A ‘No-buy’ Rule | Bankrate
Some Americans are fighting high prices and low wages by dramatically cutting down their discretionary spending.www.bankrate.com
Agreed. Wait until benefit cuts are going to be forced to be made. That’s unlikely, since most are in ‘safe’ seats.
Agreed.it's n ot just "democrcies" it's an inability of Congress and POTUS to think long term. meaning past the next election

Us.We can pretty much change our government every two years and yet we keep voting the same people back into office, who is stupid, them or us?
It wasn't booming. Most of the world was shut down. For sure!
But still a booming economy with falling unemployment, massively rising GDP, falling childhood poverty, declining fossil fuel use..
What is wrong with that?
I thought the new president with a R congress was going to reduce deficit spending.Indeed.
The only thing which might change that is if they started loosing their re-elections based on their continuous annual deficit (stimulus?) spending, and that'd up to the voters.
That's a lie, COLA went up as much as the inflation.it's n ot just "democrcies" it's an inability of Congress and POTUS to think long term. meaning past the next election

Boom being thr growing economy? It wasn't booming. Most of the world was shut down.
Getting free money, with no where to spend it but on essentials and stock piling the rest.
And then, boom, the world opened up,
Why was it not good? It lead to a massive economy. The envy of the planet. So, now there's a glut of money and a lack of products.
That wasn't good.
Good news. Fossil fuels kill the planet. Like, absolutely kill people.Fossil fuel use declined do to no one going anywhere.
Didn't Biden try to increase the supply of fossil fuels? In 2022, he prices skyrocketed because now people were travelling with all that extra money and low supply of fossil fuels.
That's a lie, COLA went up as much as the inflation.
growing doesn't always mean booming.Boom being thr growing economy?
Yeah, that's the point.
Why was it not good? It lead to a massive economy. The envy of the planet.

Old ass didn't care about how he ****ed the planet for future generations.
The post was responding to SS and falling behind inflation. Are wages keeping up with inflation? | USAFacts
Yes. From March 2024 to March 2025, wages grew 0.8 percentage points faster than inflation. Nominal wages — the literal dollars earned regardless of cost of living — increased by 3.2% while inflation stood at 2.4%. When wage growth outpaces inflation, it indicates that workers are experiencing...usafacts.org
Okgrowing doesn't always mean booming.
booming would be a big GDP
Well then Biden has been better for the planet, because he increased oil usage to record levels. The planet is capable of healing itself. At least as long as the sun gives off it's energy. But I don't disagree using other resources. But any source still requires some sort of mining, mfging, and use.
So what is your point? Did SS fall behind inflation? The post was responding to SS and falling behind inflation.
COLA was around 9% in 2022. One of the largest SS increases in history.
Wages are not tied to COLA. At least for many pvt companies.
Ok
So GDP increased like 25% in the quarters before Biden took office.
Is that booming?
Well then Biden has been better for the planet, because he increased oil usage to record levels.
Most scientists say this is bad, but Biden knew better.
