I've been watching the various foreign reporters from CNN, and elsewhere on Twitter documenting the insanity in Shanghai and elsewhere in China.
A city of 28 million people are on full lockdown with very limited access to food. The stress is getting so overwhelming that people are choosing suicide over continuing through the lockdown.
All stores are closed, you can't leave your apartment without an escort, and then only to pick up your meager supply of food.
In what might end up being the Tank man moment of this next installment of brutal communist lockdown, people in Shanghai went out on their balconies to scream out their frustration, countered by a flying drone with a loud speaker urging them to "Control your Soul's desire for Freedom"
There is a lot of brutal video floating around twitter, I won't post it here.. but film of the suicides (in one case an man leaping to his death holding his wife), a corgi chasing the bus that it's own was just loded on getting beaten to death with a shovel...
THe Chinese enforcers dragging protesters away...
And all while the Chinese Communist party reports Zero deaths.
There is a humanitarian crisis of huge proportions happening in China right now.. I mean, that could probably said on a continuous loop for the entire history of Communist China... but the one playing out now is snowballing very fast.

How many lockdowns are happening here, jmotivator?
What does that have to do with the Chinese lockdowns in Shanghai?
I asked you first.
It's an uttrerly pointless tangential question. Do you have any intererst in discussing what is happening in China or are you here to change the subject? And if so, why?
That is just normal life in a totalitarian society.
Sometimes I can't tell the difference between China and the US. These videos from China remind me of the early days of lock downs here in the US.That is just normal life in a totalitarian society. The USA is heading in that direction.

I'm confused and looked back at what jmotivator wrote, Phys251. He did not use Chinese repression as a springboard to draw a comparison or attack COVID lockdowns, mask mandates or vaccinations in the United States on a partisan basis as some of my colleagues on the political right are wont to do here.

What’s happening in Shanghai is what conservatives see when Walmart has a mandatory mask policy.I've been watching the various foreign reporters from CNN, and elsewhere on Twitter documenting the insanity in Shanghai and elsewhere in China.

Yes because we wouldnt let you people snarf horse paste were totally going totalitarian. You were willing to sacrifice the immunocompromised for your mere comfort with no shame at all.
What’s happening in Shanghai is what conservatives see when Walmart has a mandatory mask policy.
You would think this would serve as a useful tool for showing scale or a point of comparison, but nope! Conservatives see this or the actual Holocaust and think, “Totally the same as masks and vaccine mandates.”
The vaccines don't prevent you giving covid to someone else. Maybe you should read something about it.
And Ivermectin has been used on humans since it was discovered. Maybe read something?
Do you think that mask and vaccine mandates were "oppression?" I'm just curious if conservatives have any sense of proportion or scale.Leave it to Cardinal to try and make a thread about brutal Chinese oppression into a thread about conservatives.
Not a single liberal in this thread can actually seem to approach this discussion honestly.
No it is notThat is just normal life in a totalitarian society. The USA is heading in that direction.
Jesus, stop crying like a childIt's too much to ask a liberal to address issues directly rather than try to divert to the propaganda they are comfortable distributing... especially when that subject involves China, a country they have dedicated a lot of time giving accolades to for it's authoritarian efficiency.
Oh FFS."Control your Soul's desire for Freedom"
The likely official DNC platform tagline if it were ever made subject to truth-in-advertising regulation.
That’s nice, too.Oh FFS.
It’s y’all all who are always telling folks what they can and can’t do, always have.
And it’s on steroids right now.
Live and let live is not anywhere in your platforms. Live as we say is your mantra. Y’all are cancelling your asses off as we speak.
No it is not
There are just way too many crying wussies who don’t have spine to wear a mask like big boys and STFU
There never used to be so many soft and selfish Americans
