Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh says his lung cancer is terminal

Conservative talk radio giant Rush Limbaugh told his listeners Monday that the advanced lung cancer he announced this year is terminal.
Limbaugh, whose program is nationally syndicated, said he received lung scans last week that showed “some progression of the cancer” after it was previously reduced to a manageable level.

“You measure a happy life against whatever medication it takes. And at some point you decide, you know, this medication may be working, but I hate the way I feel every day,” Limbaugh, 69, said on the air. “I’m not there yet. But it is part and parcel of this. It’s tough to realize that the days where I do not think I’m under a death sentence are over.”

Not a death I’d wish on anyone.

Me, I’d make sure I go out on my own terms in that situation. Not going to lie in a hospital bed with machines desperately trying to keep failing organs going.
 
Posted this in a parallel thread. I will repeat here:

I don't care for the man personally. I think he has been a terrible influence on American culture and democracy, but I do admire anyone that makes a good living out of something they are passionate about.

That all said, It grieves me to hear of someone with terminal cancer. Although rarely is 69 ever considered young, it is rather young when you are looking at the end of life.

Godspeed Rush. May your remaining days be your best days with friends and family. Be certain to leave them with warm memories that they will carry the rest of their days.

After Rush spent his entire professional life dividing the country, now we're supposed to get all weepy because the bastard smoked himself to death?

I have little sympathy for Rush. He's spewed lies and divisiveness for decades now.

Limbaugh's identity politics is a big reason why we are where we are today.

At least you can rejoice that his (for better or worse) inimitable voice will soon be silenced. Just remember that the bell also tolls for thee.
 
Given that Rush spent years denying that smoking had health risks and defending the tobacco industry, this is just karma.

I came to grips with my own mortality during my two years in the suck, so don't lecture me on mortality.

Limbaugh and Newt are two of the early architects of power politics. I don't wish him harm, but I won't miss him either.

Try your righteous morality gambit on someone else.

No "righteous morality" here. I'm only pointing out that the bell tolls for us all and only because you stated that you have little sympathy for him.
 
...one can only wonder what society would be like if, instead of limbaugh's 15 hours per week of republican/crat propaganda, etc. countless hours of republicrat propaganda, we had an honest competition of ideas about government... for once...

No matter how much you attempt to spin it, a lack of sympathy is not equivalent to malice.
 
Rush took the Republican Party and used it for personal wealth.

None of this stuff is a secret.
